This one ⭐ review is solely for the service. We had a dinner with my wife and kids. We just recently moved from California and wanted to taste what Maryland has to offer and choose Beteseb based on locals recommendation. Food was great but had the worst service ever in Ethiopian restaurant all over US states I visited.. We were welcomed with a smiley girl with a mask light skin and another dark skin tall girl came to take order with visible ego on her face and asked us if we were ready to order . First here in the food and beverage industry, server first need to ask or offer for drinks before asking for a meal. Still that ego was flying at higher altitude on her face but I tried to make our first night out in Maryland smooth and I didn't want to create a scene while other dinners enjoying their time. Drink took more than 15 minutes and no water is being offered. We had finished the food but this girl never checked on us but the girl who first hosted us did. Me and my wife agreed not to tip but I realized they may pool the tip that I changed my mind for the sake of the other short light skin girl and tipped 20% which led me and my wife for an argument. I guess the server may have forgotten or doesn't have clue that customer pays her salary. Additional I saw a group of individuals behind the dining room, I guess manager or owner but no one was able to come and check on guests for recovery or courtesy except one guy probably floor manager checking on a group who seems to know each other. This girl who served us needs to leave her ego in her trash basket. She may have masters or PhD or she may have been Neuro surgeon or an architect in Ethiopia but here this doesn't work. This ego won't take her a step. It felt like when you took something from your teen that she was mad ? on us.As a manager or owner, you may need to find a spot for her at back of the house for helping the cooks that she is definitely not ready for front of the house to interact with diners.I am afraid to comeback again or bring my Californian friends and families who will be visiting us this summer.
Very fresh taste, clean place. Dishes are variations of beef or lamb stew with peas, greens and potatoes. Ephiopian serving style along with injera bread.Parking is at the back - behind an appartment building.
I come to this place for few years now. But this time I brought American guest who was excited to try Ethiopia food and because I like this place I brought them here. What big mistake, the waitress was incredibly rude, unwilling to accommodate us in as simple thing us joining tables because we order lots of food. Brought the wrong food and made 12 year old girl really disappointed. We couldn’t ask to get the right food because the employee was very rude and didn’t want to deal with her.I don’t know what happened but I will never never come to this place again. Or suggest to anyone…. PS: we didn’t get to eat out $88.00 worth of food because the experience was really bad. We would have changed restaurant but it was late as my friend were traveling back to MI.Extremely disappointed.
I’ve been there because I was very curious to taste Ethiopian meal. I had a veggie combo, very big for me alone! All vegetable were tasty and spicy. Loved them!
Fantastic food. Very reasonably priced for the portions served. Service was a bit slow but the freshness of the food made up for it. We will be going back.
What an amazing place for Ethiopian cuisine! WARNING, portion sizes are LARGE and filling. We had the kitfo (raw beef), veggie combo, and crispy beef tibs. The kitfo doesn't taste like raw meat at all, more like a red soft wheat item like dense pancakes. The veggie combo is pretty standard. The crispy beef tibs are a must get, the carmelized pieces are crunchy bites of delight. Ps: The decor is clean and modern.
Very beautiful and amazing people. We were there today for family dinner and food was very tasty ? and our server was amazing nice lady, thanks for everything guys we spent good time ?.
The food wasn’t tasty at all. The service with two gentlemen was excellent but there was one female waitress, slim and tall, needs more training on customer service and manner.
ridiculously amazing ethiopian food. i couldn’t be more satisfied. prices were a bit high but for food this good i would pay double. service was pleasant, i ate in and the place was clean. the portions were also amazing, easily shareable. you can never go wrong with ethiopian food either way, but this place is exceptional.
Best Ethiopian food I’ve had in Silver Spring so far! It’s also got a much more chill vibe than some of the other Ethiopian restaurants in the area. The server was really friendly and helpful to me and my other uninitiated white folks. The Veggie & Beef Platter plus the Beef Tips (per our servers suggestion) we’re incredible. We’re definitely going to go back!!!
