What a hidden gem! A very fun and lively place even in the middle of the week! And I have a lot to learn about this food. It was really delicious. Love the fact that there are gluten free options (rice noodles, etc) as well.
I’m Filipino and my husband is Hispanic( born here) and we loved this place! We might not be very familiar with how authentic Korean food should taste like but we both agreed that this restaurant serves the most authentic taste of Korean food! We been eating Korean food since we got married! Part of our weekly eat out treat! From being to try Korean bbq in Northern Va, DC and MD Mahdang is our TOP restaurant. Their Kimchi is to die for! Their bossam is so yummy! Their pork neck soup is a must.. ! Everything is this hidden gem serves freshness and authenticness of each of their food! Plus the staffs are just as lovely! Can’t wait to go back
Food was good, service okay. However, they are having some fruit fly issues. It was very frustrating trying to eat and drink when these fruit flies kept dropping into my food and beer. I lost my appetite after the second fruit fly dropped into my beer cup.
I would not recommend Mandang. This place used to be decent, but it went downhill. I hated how I had to hear electric bug zappers killing bugs throughout the meal. The service was awful (good luck getting more water), and the crazy lady followed me asking for a 20% tip for a two-person weekday lunch. I think this place will lose customers and close its door soon.
Pros:1. Authentic: Owner is a home chef. Feels like I am being cooked by a Korean Mother who cares about their business model over profit.2. Fresh Ingredients: Did she hand pick them or what? It's amazing that she got very large seafood items for our dish. Most places just get them delivered with small sizes. The seafood on our soup was massive!3. Ambience: Quiet, large tables, needs attention. This place is a local business that deserves more.Cons:1. Sketchy Location: such a strange isolated location. Surrounded by car repair shops. Doesn't give a good feeling in parking space.2. Price point scare: It's definitely worth the price as it is big proportions, but it will scare people off who doesn't know if its worth it.Overall: I would come here once a year to enjoy a good night out. But due to the fact its in a strange location, it doesn't come to mind that often because it's not close to any shopping areas. The Owner/s deserves better business through word of mouth.
Great food and healthy seat
Wanted to find a place to eat while waiting for my car repair. It's a bit of an odd location to find this restaurant among all the auto body shops, but what matters most is the food.And the food is great.The atmosphere is very warm and homey. If you need any service, they have call buttons on all the tables so you don't have to yell out to servers.With a lot of Korean restaurants in this area being more Chinese-style, it was great to taste proper Korean food. Reminded me of eating my mom's cooking.I bought the Seafood Pancake and Bulgogi Japchae. Portions are big for the price and definitely meant for sharing. I've definitely stuffed myself eating all this solo.I'll definitely come back again. I'm curious how the BBQ is...

Went here for my boyfriend's birthday. We were happy with everything. The atmosphere is very calming, the food is great, the staff is super nice. Waiting to come back there soon.
Plus side - Pancake & Japchae were good.Worst Bibimbap we ever had!You place an online order and they say it’s going to be ready for pick up in 30 mins. Great! You get there and check, they say - 10 more minutes, sure! You go back in and ask again - they don’t respond for another 15 mins and then start preparing your order!! It’s a total of 1hr 10mins for the food to be ready with waiting at the restaurant for 40 mins.
