The most authentic Taiwanese food in the area! Taiwanese chicken, pork chop combo, and black milk tea with bubbles are my favorites. Fried Taiwanese rice noodle is also very good!
Great Taiwanese food and bubble tea.
Oh my god! The food is incredibly delicious here, especially the Taiwan Chicken with Ground Pork on Rice! I am glad that I could experience the authentic Taiwanese food in the United States. I was traveling with a group of 11 students from South Carolina. All of us were amazed by the great food quality and good customer service provided by the owner. It is definitely a five out of five star Asian restaurant in Washington DC. Just give it a chance, you won’t regret!
The food is always freshly cooked. A family favorite! Best Taiwanese popcorn chicken!
Very sad and laughable for a Taiwanese restaurant with a name that does not reflect the friendly warmth of Taiwanese people. The same server, a Taiwanese(she claimed) who already had many poor reviews, still works here. She seems to dislike people but love their money as she bossed her customers in a state of imagined higher snobby attitude. It was after lunch when there were no lines at all. As the only customer, we reviewed the menu which annoyed her and unleashed a string of aggressive attitude from her. She took our order with impatient hurriness as she cut off our questions about the items. We wanted to add an advertised item seen on the counter, and inquire about the price. She answered, very curtly, “It is on the menu, find it yourself, I don’t have time to tell you!!” There were no customers behind us, and the phone wasn’t ringing.I asked her when the dine-in option would open and she answered, “Never!!” Woah, that immediately confirmed she was in a foul mood. I kindly asked her, ”Are you ok? You seem to be upset.” She answered, “I am very happy working here!!” She proceeds to bang around the ice machine as she makes our drinks. The “customer is ALWAYS RIGHT” attitude was not taught to her. She does not realize that without us, she would not have an income. The owner is not her boss, the paying customers are her real bosses who pay her salary. We live in a world with consequences, so I would not recommend this place after finding that many reviewers had been treated poorly and the management never apologized nor improved her attitude since. If others continue to accept her attitude, we are contributing to her failure personality. As for food, Jumbo-Jumbo barely survives in a state of mediocre limbo and occupies a space where other restaurants could prosper in its place. There are many other tasty Taiwanese restaurants nearby with the right customer service that will prosper while Jumbo will utterly fail, an ironic name “好客來”, translate as “hospitable”. NOT.
Sanitary issues, I do not recommend this place. Cheap eats, we get what we paid for, I guess. Found cockroach legs and parts in my Taiwanese fried chicken today. Wonder about the age of deep frying oil. There were other problems before that I never got around to writing a review. The vegetables are not fresh and taste kinda spoiled bad one time during the pandemic carryout. There is an after taste of baking soda in their meats, as a preservative. I understand it's a hard time, but the food is just not the same as it once was. Feel like they are cutting corners now on the quality. I tolerated the rudeness of the staff for the cheap food before, but after today, I will never come back again. Taipei Cafe is much friendlier and has more authentic Taiwanese cuisine.
1) cockroaches crawl freely in the restaurant2) never met a counter person working here that wasn't miserable3) food is bland and the best you can say about it is that they don't suck too bad. The only half decent thing is the popcorn chicken.
The lady at the counter was horrible at taking orders and she needs to wash her hands before touching people's food.
Sad to report after this being my go-to take out for Chinese in the area, I did not like how the woman at the counter handled my questions today. If you want my business you should care about my comfort while paying for take out here. Nobody should be treated that way. Its sad to see you accept employees behaving this way. The gentleman nearby could have easily helped me with my transaction and stood up for me.
Gotta love the spicy fried tofu!
