A small place with fresh food and 5 star presentation! Wishing you to grow to a big restaurant and start serving drinks!
So horrible experience. I’ve been a regular costumer from this restaurant and everything was awesome til today. I had lunch with by brother and my friend (who came from New York) and lunch was awesome. The problem started when we order suspiro a la limeña (it didn’t taste good, actually the flavor was very artificial). I asked to return the item, which was only 4.99 dollars or something like that and guest what: the server said the restaurant doesn’t have the policy to return items. Honestly, we only tried one scoop of that dessert. Then I asked to talk with the manager, which was the owner. I explained to him we didn’t like it so we didnt want to pay for it, and he said literally every restaurant or company have a different company to return item so he couldn’t take it off from the check. I work in the restaurant industry for so long and when a guest not costumer, doesn’t like something we can return it and take it off from the check. Everything was amazing with this restaurant at the beginning but I’m pretty suspecting once you’re growing up as a restaurant it doesn’t give you the right for take that policy. Anyways, I’m not coming back. I’m Peruvian living in the US, and I really wanted to enjoy the experience. I’m not recommended this restaurant at all. To the owner: it was only 5 dollars from a dessert I didn’t enjoy it, if u didn’t want to take it off from the bill, it’s ok. But, you lose already one Peruvian guest from your bussiness. No thanks.
I order from this place often and the food is good. This time I decided to place a catering order directly with Johan ( owner). He was presented to me at a friend's party. I followed up with him earlier this week to make a change on the order and specifically asked for no powdered sugar on the empanaditas. He stated he was busy at the time and I told him I would text him. I certainly texted but did not receive a reply. Today I picked up the order and to my surprise there was sugar. The very nice cashier called Johan and his wife, Ruth as I requested a discount for the mistake. Johan did not want to discount me anything on the item that was ordered incorrectly. Johan, I suggest you brush up on your communication etiquette with customers and take care of your customers. Without them you would not be where you are. Dissatisfied with your way of doing business.
I haven’t tried many items, but the regular ceviche de pescado is very good here! I am very particular about the flavor of the leche de tigre in my ceviche but Barra Brava has the perfect flavor, not strong yet not too weak. A lot of Peruvian restaurants in the area have trouble finding the perfect blend, but not at Barra Brava. I can’t wait to try another dish next time!
Good flavors but inconsistent food. Got ceviche and arroz con mariscos, which is what I normally get, this time the rice soupy and now it comes with this baby shrimp that were not there in the past.Waited 40 min for the food and this time it was noy worth the wait. Also where is the bathroom?
I would caution when paying with credit cards. Since September 2021, at least 20 customers (myself included) were affected by an apparent hack of the company Barra Brava uses for payment processing (PaySafe). This resulted in repeated charges (of the same amount as the initial charge) throughout the subsequent months. While Ruth, the manager, acted swiftly and ended the contract with PaySafe, the charges continued after she did. She also mentioned we would be reimbursed by PaySafe and told me to email credit card statements showing the charges. I did, and never heard back. I’ve never eaten here, so cannot discuss the quality of food and service, but based on my experience, I’d advise folks to pay cash if they decide to visit this place.
I live close to this place but only made it in recently. The food was extra surprisingly good! We were not expecting it to be that good! We got the mussels, which was piled with onions and garlic inside. Almost like a ceviche muddle dish. We also got the fish dish which has a great sauce and plenty of thick chunks of onions. It said it had sweet potatoes but they seemed like regular. They also have a 3.8% discount when using cash, including alcohol. The only issue I had was they said 20 minutes, and it was closer to 40 minutes. When waiting with a baby in the tight space it made things difficult. Although there were maybe 10 to go dishes coming out. I just think they should give an accurate time if they are busier. Also some of the wine looks pretty old, with shriveled lables and some have dust. Bottles of wine seemed a little higher priced too. Otherwise they do have a great selection of authentic Peruvian ice cream.
The place was really good. I was not aware of how big the portions were and it was kind of expensive. It’s a neat experience eating in a liquor store. When they ask you if you want spicy be prepared. My Peruvian girlfriend was also struggling with the heat.
This food was so good! I really appreciate my friends from the congregation bringing me here. The portion of food was huge and this was money well spent.
Ceviche and arroz con mariscos was so delicious, worth a 45 minute drive! The jalea mixta came cold so we had to have it reheated but still good. We got The Brava, which was enough for 2 people and gave us a taste of everything. The location’s is quite small (in a small supermarket) but the waitress was very friendly and quick. The chocolate cake was just ok, I wouldn’t order a second time. Be mindful the check includes 18% gratuity!
