I read a previous review recommending the Maryland Fried Rice. So I decided to order it online and pick it up from their establishment. When I got home...I opened the bag and I was disappointed at the portion or amount of the rice that I had just purchased for $18.00. I called the establishment and learned that that was standard practice. They told me that they used a different bowl for the rice and that is why the portion appeared small. Here's a picture of the $20.00 order of your Maryland Fried Rice (tip included) The rice was good but not $18.00 good (for the amount you get). Just saying
The food was great! The atmosphere was very lively for a Monday evening. Overall, experience was definitely worth the visit. Prices are reasonable, especially being one of the only spots for sushi. 5/5 will return again!
Not a ton of sushi in OCMD. So this is obviously a likely choice for sushi when at the beach. But don’t sleep on this spot, they take serious care to do solid food. And not just sushi either. Had fried rice the other day and it was one of the best we’ve had. Also if you’re down during the off season keep an eye out for their deals.
I don't typically order rolls but they had some I wanted to try. Unfortunately, I don't remember all the names, but we had a CA roll, one with the large shrimp Tempura topped with Unagi (the best one with flavors that completely complement each other), MD lump crab with asparagus (probably my least favorite without much flavor and also questioned if it was really MD lump), salmon roll, and nigiri tuna, rockfish, and Unagi. As an app we ordered the veggie tempura. Nice size serving with different veggies you typically don't see, ie asparagus and eggplant. Looked oily but was actually perfectly fried.Bathroom: Sorry but forgot to take pics. They seemed to have a men's, women's, and a unisex single use options.
It was an ok experience. Sushi was tasty, and thank you for being the other place nearby that keeps Inari (Tofu Skin) available year round. I actually wound up asking for an order of Quail Egg, which they accomodated in small soup spoons, for the inside of my Tofu Skin (tasty combo.) Price vs portion is the main issue, as well as the surface around me not being wiped down between guests and just a damp smell in the air (perhaps clean the air vents please, or check the dehumidifier if one available.) Sushi chefs were nice and knowledgeable.
We ALWAYS stop at OC Wasabi when in OCMD. Best place in town. Food is superb. Staff is friendly and helpful; service is fast. Highly Recommended.
Over the course of a few visits over several years we've found this a friendly and reliable spot for both reasonably-priced standard rolls and a variety of creative offerings. Have only had takeout but it looks nice inside for when covid permits.
We had an absolutely lovely experience! The owner came out, had a chat and even topped up our drinks. The food was so amazing fresh, and portion sizes leave you wanting for nothing. Would recommend saving room for dessert. Finally, in our opinion, value for money was high. You expect to pay more for sushi but at OC Wasabi, you really do get fantastic food and good service for a price that you won't feel badly about when the bill comes. We would come back from England just to eat here again!!!
Do me a favor…get the Maryland fried rice. It comes with shrimp, crab meat and old bay…best fried rice ever! Cozy little spot, I checked beforehand and the website didn’t mention reservations but when we arrived they asked if we had one (then we had to wait about 90 minutes for a table). That’s the only even remotely negative thing I could say. Food was great, hubby had Saki (warm) and he enjoyed. It’s a bit pricy, family of 5 our tab was $200+ but we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in OC.
We enjoyed our sushi, but have had better in the area. The rolls were not tightly rolled and there was no texture to them. They were mushy and missing the little bit of crunch that we like in those particular types of rolls we usually order. Taste was fine. We wouldn't go out of our way to go back, but if we found ourselves there we wouldn't be completely disappointed.
