Food was simply incredible. The dishes me and my girlfriend had were so inventive and divine. I had the Grill Mahi. It was nicely charred, savory and well garnished. It was delicious. My girlfriend had the scallops which also was very cool, newer dish. 10/10 would go back.
I got the shrimp Po boy and I thought it was really good! It came with a remoulade and sliced pickles on top. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the breading wasn't too thick, but it still had a really nice crunch to it!
First time there, thought reviews looked good. Food wasn’t bad—my son had some steamed vegetables that were great—but prices and portions are pretty abysmal. $24 for fish and chips, and my portion was two tiny slabs of fish. My son had practically the same portion on the kids menu. Service, atmosphere, decent taste. But plenty of good options down here with better prices and portions.
Whenever I’m in Ocean City I visit Hooked. I’ve been there for both lunch and dinner and it’s consistently good. I’d say it’s one of the best restaurants in OC. Food is simple and fresh. Last time I got the fish tacos, which were great. The cocktail menu and beer lists are also both spectacular. There’s a bar tender who’s been there for years and he’s always friendly and does a great job with the drinks.
Let me start out by saying I have dined at hooked on several occasions. My family has always enjoyed are trips to this establishment. Tonight’s experience was very poor. The two apps we ordered flash fried oysters and boom boom shrimp were average at best not up to the usual standard. The fish and chips also not up to par. Overall I would say what happened?????? Our dining at hooked was a major disappointment. Might have to give hooked some time to get back to there higher standards
My husband and I decided to try Hooked last night. Appetizers ( Calamari & Boom Boom Shrimp) were very good! However, Mahi Mahi was horrible. Was completely over cooked, dry and tough. I am fairly certain this was not fresh fish, but a frozen filet. Husband got the scallops which he enjoyed. I ordered scallops as replacement for Mahi Mahi and also enjoyed. Just very disappointed that they are possibly serving frozen and not fresh fish, especially since they advertise that everything is local and fresh.
I always find it difficult to find good restaurants in seaside resort areas. I used yelp and trip advisor to guide me to hooked. I hate writing negative reviews but the restaurant was just ok for me. Outdoor dining is fairly limited there. We did get an outdoor table off the parking lot. I understand this was in a strip shopping center and wasn’t going to have exciting views. But the flies were abound and fairly annoying. Indoor area downstairs that I saw seemed a bit small. As for the food….I honestly expected more from a $34 grilled mahi entree. There was a tiny piece of fish over a lot of cous cous and veggies. I expected more fish than just a small square. The fish was a little dry too so i assume slightly over cooked. I had the crab bisque which wasn’t bad, but wasn’t hot either. Temo was a bit on the luke warm side - my wife tried it and made the same observation. Again it wasn’t bad, just had a temperature issue. I had a cantelope watermelon cocktail which was ok. My wife had a white wine which was honestly a tiny pour. When I’m paying the liquor store price of an entire bottle for 1 glass, I expect the pours to be at least a quarter of the bottle…what we got was clearly less…at least from my wife’s perspective (and all she orders is wine when we go out), it was a noticeably small pour. My one sons blackened chicken sandwich looked good and he enjoyed it. Also noted afterwards there was no bread offered to the table. Honestly in this price range I expect some bread at the table. I noticed a yelp photo of complimentary bread that looked good…so I don’t know if we were just shorter or the restaurant stopped serving complimentary bread. So like I said…just ok. I wouldn’t go out of my way to seek this place out and I likely would try something else If I’m down again. It is a tough market and everything needs to shine….it just didn’t all come together for me.
Food and service first class excellence … love the ambiance … outside was dope … definitely had a family vibe or a couple vibe
This was a nice surprise. I was driving down the road and hungry and saw their sign saying it was fresh and local... I had a caesar salad with seared tuna. The tuna steak was easily one of the best I have ever had. The Caesar salad was also good and the dressing was fantastic. Unfortunately, they charged me the price of the salad plus the price of the tuna entree so my lunch was $44! (Truth is, I should have been more clear when I ordered.)Ambiance: 4Food:5Service: 5 (great, creative bartender)Value for Experience: 3 (very expensive lunch)While the price may deter you, I feel that if I'd been more clear about what I was ordering, things would have been different. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Went for dinner with a few friends. Great cocktail offerings. Dinner plates aren't exactly cheap but the food was top notch. I got the soft crab daily special and both crabs were perfectly fried and very meaty. I'd be happy to go back again.
