We visited Nick's on the recommendation of a friend, who called it the nicest restaurant in Hagerstown. The restaurant was pleasantly full, but not crowded and we were seated promptly with our reservation, which may not have been necessary. A pianist was entertaining in the lounge side of the restaurant, but we had requested the dining room side. There were several specials of the day, and I ordered the battered flounder with beurre blanc over sauted spinach. As every cooking show mentions, adding a sauce makes the crispy batter go limp. My husband ordered tilapia with pecans and apricots. Entrees come with choice of 2 sides. The dinner salad was a generous portion and the broccoli was cooked perfectly. Both entrees were quite good, and we cleaned our plates. My mashed potatoes had a flavor that I couldn't identify and wasn't to my taste, so that was the only item not finished. That was the only misstep in an otherwise nice meal. We skipped dessert as the portion sizes were generous and left no room. My only other comment is that the restaurant seemed dated in decor and menu choice. We were there on prom night, but otherwise it definitely caters to an older crowd.
Friends in the area made reservations here snd it was delightful.but a bit older lynch crowd who know their food. Had the crab cake sandwich served with homemade chips terrific. My wife had wedge salad full of blue cheese and persecutor fine bacon snd well fried onions and our friends opted for sandwich snd soup snd a shrimp Caesar salad. Everything was good Great lynch spot
Best crab cakes in Hagerstown. Upscale dining experience. Recommend. Entrees are $25-35, but include two generous side portions.
Our favorite restaurant in the area, we've been going there since the early 70s. We particularly enjoy the piano area and wish the piano man would be there more often (besides weekends). With our 50th wedding anniversary coming in June, we hope to enjoy the wonderful music, atmosphere and of course, great food again.I'd give them a fifth star but through the years we've had a few disappointments here but too few to mention and, nobody's perfect!
While in the Hagerstown area when i go, and if I’m feeling upscale Nick’s is my go to. The food is some of the best and the beautiful scenery within the restaurant makes it a trip worth it
I use to frequent this cozy fine dining restaurant quite a bit . I went there again and was surprised with a Valentine's early dinner I only came short of a 5 star service because in comparison the etiquette of being waited on and cordially from those years have waned . One waitress with a busy schedule at 4pm. There wasn't even a butter knife for my rolls so what the heck , I just used my dinner knife. But food and ambience was excellent
Not worth the price at all. Just goto dutches daughters. Crab cakes has no taste and was soggy. The crab imperial didn’t have any taste either. Broccoli had no taste either. My cauliflower looked this is had been cooked with mold on it. Mash potatoes tasted like water. My daughter got the noodles with marinara sauce and complain that it was too spicy. The rolls were definitely frozen and then cooked they were hard as a rock. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
We had the medium rare 7oz, filet and the rockfish stuff with crabmeat. OMGBoth prepared perfectly and delicious. The rockfish filled the plate and the filet will satisfy the hungriest appetite. Two bottles of a peach moscato went well with our entrees. Wait staff appropriately attentive, friendly, knowledgeable. Wow... really nice experience. Thank you
The food at Nick's is always delicious and worth every penny. You can tell this is a family run restaurant and they take pride in their menu. In my many visits, I have yet to order anything that would disappoint the taste buds. We absolutely love the piano area and decor. The specialty cocktails are always delicious too! I loved the apple cider champaign that I tried on our anniversary visit this fall. Made such an impression, that it will be my cocktail of choice on new years! I definitely recommend trying this hidden gem!
Went y Nick's for a Christmas luncheon. Wait staff was nice, excellent selection of meals. A very pleasing meal. Had a triple decker club with home made chips.
