I'm embarrassed to write two poor reviews in a day, but the experience unfortunately was so sub-par it begs sharing. After spending over 60 dollars on 2 pizzas and a salad, we at least hoped the food would be good.I'll keep this short - it wasn't.The pizzas looked like they'd been made hours before. Neither had more than a dollars' worth of toppings. If you like bread that you pay over 20 bucks for...well maybe this is your place. The salad was edible, but the lettuce was going bad and if you've ever had a Margherita pizza before...don't expect to actually receive that when you order it.
Cafe Del Sol is an unassuming looking place in a strip mall, just off I-81 N. of Hagerstown. Inside it is quite modern. It is NOT a mexican restaurant, but has dishes with roots in Italy, Korea, California, Mexico and Maryland (of course!). The selection was wonderful although the menu is relatively small. We had a very difficult time deciding what to get, but settled on Korean Barbeque Bao Sliders (!) as an appetizer, and two kinds of tacos. The Bao were small, darling, and delicious, with a very innovative use of steamed bread dough. Both types of tacos (adobo and fish) were excellent; flavorful but not too spicy. Drinks were also very good, and prices for food and drinks were low to moderate for what you got. We got two desserts (for 2 people); each one would have served both of us, but we wanted 2 different things. Desserts were pricey but very good to excellent; the cannoli were fresh and delicious. This place is small to medium in size; go early or late or on a weekday. We arrived at 5:15 on a spring Friday, and there were just a few people, but by 6:15 the place was packed and folks were waiting inside and outdoors. Waitstaff and management were charming, pleasant, and efficient. Our new favorite place in this neck of the woods!
We ended up here when the restaurant we had planned to go to closed for bad weather. I didn’t even know this place existed but it was such a lucky find! Our waitress Christa is just what I want in a server: attentive without being intrusive, helpful in making menu suggestions and honest about menu items that aren’t the best. Everything she suggested was fantastic! We did the tuna tostada and the fried avocado appetizers. My prime rib sandwich was heavenly and the balsamic onions are what made it. Bonus: it heated up beautifully the following day. I’m looking forward to coming back because the menu was full of other items I want to try.
Food was yummy, staff was gracious, and they were nice about our kids joining us. There's a good kids meal that includes pizza and chicken tenders. Also had a delicious chocolate beer, pictured.
My boyfriend placed a order at 12:45, it stated his order would be ready at 1:15. He got a text at 12:57 that it was ready. When he arrived his food had been sitting on the counter for almost 20 minutes and was cold. He made a comment to the manager asking how long it had been sitting there and they said only a few minutes, but when he got back to work it was cold and soggy! Would not recommend mobile ordering if they cannot follow the guaranteed times
We found this place during one of those generic "food near me" Google searches. The pictures looked delicious so we figured we'd give it a whirl. Kind of hidden from view when you're driving along, but it was worth circling back to! A very cute little restaurant that had good food and was nice and clean. We especially enjoyed the crab nachos (served with kettle chips instead of tortilla chips which we all agreed was basically genius). Pizzas were delicious and 2 was the perfect amount for our party of 5. We will definitely return!
I had the basil chicken chili and the Greek pizza. It was so so good. The pizza is 10/10 the best pizza I have ever had the the chili definitely hit the spot. The Greek pizza is a white pizza with pesto, gyro, a Greek salad mix and Tzatziki on top. ????
Great service. Some fish is a little bit too salty, some is way too bland. But overall is good.
Stopped here for a quick bite to eat while traveling and we are so glad we did! The food was delicious, the staff was very attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was quiet and calm. I loved how vast their menu is, no matter what you were in the mood for they have it on their menu. Their homemade salsa had just enough heat to it and the sweet potato fries were the best I've ever had!
