This is a really good szechuan place. We come here almost every time we go out with my in-laws. I love the spicy tendon and the fei ting fish soup. I'd go here more if we lived in the area.
Rated Number 1 in greater DC area by multiple families coming here at least once a month for close to a year.
This is yet another great Chinese restaurant in MoCo. Pretty much everything that I got from this place was delicious. I highly recommend getting spicy beef tendon, spicy Crispy chicken, fei teng fish soup, and beef chow fun. If you like spicy food, this is the place for you. Staffs are friendly, but were not attentive. They have small buffet style service during the weekend lunch, where you can sample different dishes. My friends told me that they also have great hot pot dishes too. This place is tucked in behind the strip mall (across from Sam’s club), it was kinda hard to find it when I visited for the first time. But this place has plenty of parking spaces tho. Definitely a hidden gem in Gaithersburg.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! Wish I could write this review without even giving them a 1 star..beyond awful!! I have been a customer for over 10 years but they are so pathetic in accommodating you even if you show up 30 seconds after they close, which by the way is up to them. Online they may be open until 9:30 but they can decide to shut their doors a at 8 pm with no notice.Today I took another family from our neighborhood raving about their food .. 7:47 pm they wouldn’t open their doors.. I told them my kids are hungry and we drove 30 mins they didn’t care … to me such a business shouldn’t be in the food industry ….. needless to say their own people were being served. We’ve decided not to go there again! It’s not the first time such has happened…we’ve just over loooked a lot because our kids like their food. Also, they will harass you for tips. Once we ordered delivery, and when I told the owner that I will add $5 to the order for delivery tip. She got mad at me for leaving 5 dollars for a $ 80 order. Why do I need to leave a big tip if I wasn’t served on the table… she also walked up to my mom in front of her guests when she hosted a lunch there and embarrassed her saying she didn’t leave a proper tip. My mother had paid the servers cash tips, which the owner didn’t know about. Such rude and uncouth people should not be allowed to have a business in the hospitality Industry if they treat their customers like this.We refuse to give them any more business.. they don’t deserve our money. They are cheap and stingy, and will fight with you if you even asked for extra hot sauce. Absolutely DISGUSTING!
We enjoyed our recent experience at Yu Zhou Cafe in Gaithersburg. Entered the restaurant early on a recent Saturday evening. We were given a choice of a table of a booth in the dining room. We opted for a table and were escorted and given menus. Shortly after we were served hot tea and ice water. My mother in law ordered ice tea. The server said initially that they didn't have any but shortly said she would check and came back in the affirmative. We didn't know that she was bringing an Asian style with tapioca ($3.50). My mother in law liked the flavor but didn't enjoy the tapioca in it. We ordered our food. A couple of orders of Spring Rolls ($3.50) I ordered an Orange Beef $16.95 and my wife ordered to share with her mother the Shrimp Chow Mein ($15.95), I also ordered my rice to be fried rice (additional $2.50). Food was served quickly, the spring rolls were very good. Served hot and crispy. The mustard sauce was very hot. Shortly after our Spring Rolls were served the entrees were brought to the table. Orange beef was very flavorful and spicy although the beef was chewy. The fried rice was just a few vegetables tossed with the rice and some soy sauce and didn't have much flavor. My mother in law was somewhat disappointed in the shrimp chow mein as it didn't offer much flavor. Portions were big on both orders and the Orange Beef was served with fresh broccoli. The check was brought to the table along with 3 fortune cookies. The restaurant became very busy as we departed. All in all we enjoyed our experience and my mother in law took home the leftover shrimp for the next night.
Everything was delicious and the food came out quickly. Probably the best Moo Shi Chicken I've ever had. The shrimp with broccoli and General Tsao's chicken was also great. We did wait for a while to get the bill. We would not go if we were in a hurry. The food going by looked wonderful and we will try their green beans next time. The table across from us had a fried fish that I snuck a picture of and it looked scrumptious.
Although I have enjoyed the takeout dish I have bought on several occasions, I went with friends and had a most unpleasant experience with the older woman at the cash register. She was extremely unpleasant from start to finish. I asked if they had a sampler to which she stonefacedly said, "no". I told her I order a particular dish from a very nice woman and wanted to ask about it. Her immediate harsh and disgusted response was, "She's in tomorrow, come back then!" I told her that her unprofessional business response was very unfriendly and uncalled for. I asked the waiter who was the owner and he said, the woman behind the cash register was. Whew...so much for customer service! My friends were not crazy about Chinese food to begin with and they did not care for this food either. I was hoping this experience would change their minds, but not only did they not care for her behavior, they did not like the food. I have been with them to many restaurants and they are very easy to please. On the other hand, I liked my food and the waitress (who took over for the waiter) was very sweet and accommodating.
Hello everyone , this post is because I’m a food critic and I love food and I go to the most expensive places to the less expensive places , when I go to the restaurant and I pay is because I want to get good food that’s what you pay for. This is my second time buying food from here, the food has no flavor, the fried rice smells burn, the orange beef I order not cooked correctly and slimy, like it was re-heated, my wonton soup looked like it was blended wonton soup slimy and uncooked, I call the lady at the restaurant Judy, she wanted me to come back to show the cook the food I told her I got fotos, I told her if she didn’t fix the problem I will post this on google, she didn’t care. I don’t recommend this restaurant if you looking for good Chinese food,
Its really good with good service. I would recommend it as its the best right now in that part of Gaithersburg IMO. I have high standards for Asian food, especially Chinese, and so 5 stars would have to be amazing. Best steamed pork dumplings. Casserole like hot pots are really good.
Excellent authentic Szechuan cuisine. Get the smoked fish appetizer. Also the shrimp with yellow leek was very tasty. Cannot go wrong here. Portions, value, presentation and taste are excellent.
