Salad Soup Uzbek

We had a family event. According to the Moldavan half of my family the food was authentic and the best they have eaten in a long while. This was my first experience of this type of food and I love the flavors. The staff were attentive and made the experience all the more enjoyable.

We ordered the Borscht Ukranian beet, beef and cabbage Soup. Served Hot, The Assorted kebab Platter(Lamb, chicken,Ground beef,Veggie, any side of choice)/Garnished with Dolmaand The Plov Traditional Uzbek Dish. Braised boneless lamb leg, rice, roasted garlic, chili pepper, garbanzo beans, carrot, raisins. All Fantastic! Perfectly seasoned, meat was moist, and fork tender. Try this place.........a hidden Gem!!!!

The food is awesome and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only drawback is that the restaurant does not serve alcohol. However, if you bring a bottle of wine, they will gladly open it for you. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

Until this past week -- when I met a friend for dinner at Silk Road Choyhona -- the worst restaurant experience of my life had been in a restaurant outside Cody, Wyoming in 1997. That's history now! It is clear from other reviews that some people have very good things to say about their experience at Silk Road - but honestly the meal we had was so bad I have a hard time getting it out of my mind. This was a Thursday evening - we arrived at 6 pm - and for most of the meal we were the only people in the restaurant. My friend had been there before and on her recommendation we ordered and split a lamb and rice dish, as well as a beef dumpling dish. The lamb was dried out and flavorless and not very hot when served - and the beef dumplings dish was also room temperature and did not taste fresh. We did order a small carrot salad - which was granted carrots with mixed spices - and that was good. There were two desserts on the menu and we apparently ordered the wrong one: a Napoleon - which was obviously old and difficult to cut with a fork! I ordered a Turkish coffee and the cup was the bright spot of the meal. I should say the waiter was nice. I've never had Uzbeki cuisine before but it's hard to imagine what we had is typical. Silk Road has apparently been open for a number of years so I have to conclude I was there on an off night but I'll never return to find out.

Unpretentious, simple, with nice and modest people doing their service, this place was a real surprise. My friend took me there because I said I love Lamb and it was a banquet. We ordered almost all dishes with Lamb for only two people and we ate even when we were not hungry anymore, so delicious, juicy, flavourful it was. The prices are very reasonable and the portions too. I strongly recommend.

I visited with my family during one of my trips to DC. This place was on our way back home. It was a fantastic experience. The food was great and delicious. The ambiance was fantastic. They have curtains which you can pull if you desire that make you enjoy the dinner in your own privacy. They even had a traditional sitting place if you are up to experience dining Uzbeki (Central Asian) style. The owner was a nice lady that was accommodating for any request. We loved their warm appetizers, manti and plov. They are definitely specials that you can rarely find anywhere. Shishkebabs were good, as expected. Their homemade napoleon was so fresh and light dessert that I had to order after tasting it, even though I was so full.

I’ve loved this place since being introduced to it several years ago and have brought friends and family, business and hoped-for business here for many meals. It’s fun to see the surprised looks on people’s faces when I suggest an Uzbek restaurant.

Jus roaming the neighbourhood and found this. So good and what a friendly crew. So over the American food and this home grown restaurant with friendly guys was a dream. We share this enormous soup/stew with hot home made brad and a glass of wine. Delicious, humble and nutritious. Loved it all. Thanks guys. :)

Similar food to Moscow's Чайхона but with a smaller, more subtle footprint. I really enjoyed the plov and loose leaf green tea. The only issue we had was that one of our ordered appetizers never came. We will definitely be back to give it another try.

Good service and good quality. A clean restaurant with uzbek flair. I want to sit at the raised table once, to get the full feeling of chair-less eating.
