We were looking for an open Sushi place a Tuesday evening and came across Kara Kibachi. Humble from the outside but don’t let it fool you. Super fresh and delicious sushi was made for us on the spot (no pre-made and refrigerated meal). We tried two simple rolls and also their Tokyo Love and Super Crunchy Roll. The ingredients were fresh and everything tasted great. Very decently priced and worth the trip to Gaithersburg.
Great food! I love the freshness of the sushi and the sweet potatoes crispy texture. Gotta try some again!
Horrible sushi, sorry to say. This place was awesome for two years after it opened, but the last 3 orders were bad. I order the sushi combo for 1. The spicy tuna roll is ok. But the rest of the sushi combo is disaster. Rice is cold (are they preparing sushis ahead and keeping it in refrigerator?). Raw squid sushi? Who eats raw squid? Egg/omelette sushi soggy with sweet sauce? Why? And raw mackerel with skin on! No real sushi chef will serve a raw fish with the skin on. It’s just not right. I will never order again. Obviously the old chef is not there anymore.
I ordered from your business for the first time today via Uber and the food was awful. Your Ramen noodle is ice cold & the broth was terrible. I also ordered shrimp hibachi most of the little shrimps were soggy and tasted like they weren’t cooked. I got it with the noodles and I don’t know what flavor that was but it was disgusting. I was really looking forward to this given how much I had to pay for it ….I’ve had much better food than the one I had today from your restaurant. ?
First time trying this place, I got the steak yakisoba which was very yummy although i wish they put more steak :( the atmosphere it’s so clean and the service is so nice!
Decided to try this place last week for take out — shumai + tempura. I love Japanese cuisine + routinely eat it. Very friendly manager/owner(?) but by far the WORST Japanese food I have ever eaten. Fried till almost hard/dry; who fries shumai?? THIS place does; inedible tempura which was hard veggies + 2/3 was only batter. I have a stomach impervious to almost everything but I truly felt like vomiting from this terrible food.

I came in to get a shrimp deluxe box to go for lunch. The people that came in became me got their food first which I don’t understand why. My soup that came with my meal was left out and when I asked I was answered with an attitude. Then after he gave me a chicken bento box instead of the shrimp and I had to wait for them to make a whole new one. Overall it wasn’t just the mistake, it was the attitude and the customer service when I was asking to double check my order was right when it was wrong and I had been waiting.
The owners are so welcoming and kind!! We came in on a thursday night for dinner. We were warmly greeted by the owner. The sushi was fresh, the takoyaki was delicious and the chicken hibachi was flavorful. The prices are fair as well. I would definitely come back!
Best sushi I’ve had since moving to Germantown two years ago. Super fresh. Quaint dining area. Attentive server. I’ll DEF return.
