This place is an old favorite of mine, came back after several years living in VA just for this outstanding pizza!
My first time. I ordered Sangria. It looked like bottled cheap Sangria with lime and Lemon pieces. I should have known then. I asked for salad and fries to start my meal. The salad was lettuce with two small tomatoes. Like the one you get at Mcdonalds. The fries were thin and burnt. For main course I got chicken parmesan. The sauce was definitely bottled sauce and not freshly prepared. The chicken felt stale. My check was for $56. I felt cheated. If you still choose to go after reading this, then you have been warned.
I've been taking my family here roughly once a week for years. Started taking my son and his baseball team after games. Never had an issue. Great pizza and beer. Took my family today, a Friday night, expecting for it to be busy so I have my family wait in the truck outside until I can get a table situated. There's a family of five in front of me and I'm second in line. A woman comes up to me and asks what I need and I explain I need a table for four no different than I would any other time I've been there. Her coworker explains to everyone waiting they aren't taking names and just to wait for the table of five to be seated. They then proceed to sit the next three families that were behind me that weren't already on the list. Then after 25-30 minutes of waiting walk back up to me and ask what I need as if it was the first time we spoke. I said I'll just leave. I'll just start taking my 150 to 200 dollars a sitting to another pizza spot.
I have been here a few times over the past few years. Not bad, just not our first choice for pizza. But we hadn’t been in awhile and wanted to try again. Unfortunately I can’t tell you how the pizza was since it was still not done at 7:15 PM after sitting down and ordering at 6:14 PM. Don’t forget, this is advertised as a 900° oven, so it can cook a pizza in under 10 minutes.Hey, I understand busy nights, and I would have been fine if I was told at the time I ordered that they were backed up. But no mention was made and I could see they were turning out the carry out orders like a machine. There was no mention of the slow down by the waiter until 50 minutes after we ordered, at which time he said it would be 5 more minutes. 15 minutes later, we still did not have our pizza and we asked for our check as we we’re running late to our movie.I still would not have minded too much if some token attempt was made to rectify the issue. A manager came by to say it would only be one more minute if we could wait, but we had to get going (and I’m not confident our pizza was even in the oven). We said we had to go so we wouldn’t miss our movie and asked for the bill. We were charged the full amount for our beers and house salad with no comp and no offer of a discounted pizza next time we visited. I make it a rule not to request comps, and allow the establishment to determine if/how they want to handle a poor service incident. In this case, there was no attempt to regain our patronage at another time by offering an incentive to return and try again.
Great pizza with a nice chewy crust. I like their fire sauce which has a nice kick to it.FYI all their happy hours specials are pretty much suspended for Covid.
Good food and excellent service.
I ordered a prosciutto pizza from Coal Fire for me and my girlfriend a few weeks ago. I called around 5:45 PM and was told my pizza would be ready in 45 minutes. I arrived 45 minutes later to pick it up. When I arrived they had not yet made my pizza. I stood waiting for 50 more minutes for my pizza to finally be made. When I came home and we looked at the pizza we noticed they had put regular ham on the pizza, not real prosciutto (we are Italian food and pizza snobs so we know what real prosciutto looks like). I then tried to call the restaurant to tell them. I was then put on hold for about 10 minutes and then someone hung up on the phone. This was a bad experience and the pizza was not worth the price.
Absolute worse pizza I've ever had from Coal Fire! What happened? They changed the magic formula so it takes longer to get the pizza and the box is full of grease when they hand it to you. My car seat was full of grease because I didn't notice the box dripping grease in the parking lot on the way to the car!! So I couldn't eat my greasy $20 pizza and had to have my car detailed. Come on guys, let's get it together!
great food! friendly people! love this place!❤
I came to coal fire to pick up my pizza. I was told that it wasn't ready, and it would be ready in a few minutes. I was asked to park my car and they would let me know when the pizza was ready. They never came out to notify me, or called me. I waited for 1 hour and 20 minutes for my pizza. I ended up calling to find out where my pizza was, and it was waiting in the warming oven at the front desk. I asked to talk to a manager, and manager never came out to talk to me. They took my phone number and they never called!!!
