Try their crab soup - I have ordered it all seven times I've visited - it is always delightfully flavorful and somehow both a savory and light fare! The owners have outdone themselves in terms of ambience - ask for the menu that contains the history of the place (I think it is the dessert menu?). Each of their decorations has historical or Euro-centric significance.
Tonight my parents celebrated their 60th Anniversary at Up on Market restaurant. Maureen & the staff took wonderful care of them. Everything was perfect. They were delighted with their food and the entire experience. A follow-up text to me from Maureen confirming the bill & her kind words shows how much they care. Thank you UP ON MARKET
Ambiance, historical vibe , service, delicious food.
Fantastic. Super-friendly from the moment they picked up the phone to take the reservation. Food (steak) was great, lovely ambience, waitress (Emily) was genuinely friendly and interested in our table, and brought us the fascinating history of the building. Have to come back with Mrs H!
This cozy, comfortable and historic inn is in the heart of Frederick. Rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable. Service level is very high European style. Staying here will transport you to France where you drink and dine at an authentic bistro and wander up to your room at the end of the evening. Here you go straight to the top with the owners directly involved in every aspect of your stay. And they want to make it right. The only issue you will find is parking- it’s not their fault but parking is difficult if you are staying overnight. Lots don’t allow overnight parking and street restrictions are tight and change block by block. The Inn really needs some kind of arrangement because they give you parking advice but they can’t guarantee you won’t run afoul of the city. Certainly worth the risk and the price- Recommended!
I have never seen better service and amazing host like UP ON MARKET . The building itself has amazing history and tye aroma of food is just heavenly. I am giving a 5 star review for the hospitality, service staff, food, ambiance of the place . Missed my grandfather after meeting the amazing host . A must place to visit and eat at if you are in Frederick . We are just 4 miles from there and will definitely make it our go-to place .
We happened to walk by this restaurant one day and look at the menu and the owner came out to greet us. He was a really nice man and he gave us a brief history of the building that he and his wife renovated and told us about the menu and the restaurant they used to own in NYC. We decided to try it out a few days later and we came on a Saturday night. We were very glad we made reservations because the place was absolutely slammed. The ambiance is adorable and I felt like I might actually be in a real French restaurant in Paris! The food was perfect and cooked expertly. I had the bone in rib-eye (which was cooked perfectly medium rare) and my husband had a beef stew that I can't recall the French name for, but he loved it! The apple turnover for dessert was absolutely to die for and well worth the wait. The service was a little sporadic, but honestly, for how slammed they were I am really impressed the food did not suffer in the slightest. Only the amount of times the server visited our table, however he was accommodating and provided great recommendations. Overall I really really enjoyed my experience here and we plan on coming back for brunch so we can really enjoy this little gem at a time when they might just be a little less busy. I highly recommend this French restaurant and I can't wait to try more things on the menu.
My family and I went for a late brunch this past Sunday, 2/20. There were 4 of is in the party. We were sat at 2 small round bistro tables and after our food was served needed to pull over another one. As you look at the menu, I’ve never seen an Eggs Benedict that was $30.00 albeit it was the Chesapeake Benedict. The original with ham was $25.00. I love to fine dine and this was pricey. My mother had ordered her eggs over easy, they came out hard hard. We sent them back for over easy and they sent back - slightly more than over medium. My brother had ordered his eggs over medium, they may have been hard boiled. He didn’t send his back, ate and enjoyed his $25.00 corned beef hash.I must say they eggs on my Benedict were cooked nicely. The hollandaise sauce had a spicy kick but good. I loved our waiter Chancellor. I know the eggs were not his fault… but he did forget to bring me salt when I requested. All in all…. It was an experience, however, I don’t know that we would go back.
The food and service here is amazing! I have had brunch, lunch, and dinner here. The mushroom soup is to die for! I probably shouldn't have said that because now they might be out when I go to get some but it is! ? French toast at brunch is perfect. Higgly recommend!
This may have become my new favorite spot. The food was phenomenal; the service was probably the best I've had in a long while(and I'm a bartender and server and very picky), and the atmosphere was perfect for our anniversary celebration. And don't even get me started on the cocktails, my boyfriend was jealous of my reaction to the espresso martini, let me tell ya!!!
