The food was fine. The service was good until the server and host staff told us something along the lines of, “Are you all planning to leave soon? We have a party of 13 coming.” after I finished paying and tipping. As a former server myself, I was stunned by this request. The place was not packed at all, and the party of 13 was nowhere to be found yet. I wanted to spend time with my grandparents who I have not seen in 10 years, but was rushed out by the host and server.
I order from Grubhub and had food from Oscars Alehouse West delivered approx 6 times in the last several months. I indicate on the order that I want saltine crackers with my chili, I never get it, Several times there were nacho chips (too hard for me to eat ) with the order. I never get napkins or utensils. I have e-mailed Oscars twice in the last two months, they never answer. Once they have your money that is all they care about.!
I really like this place. It is a family friendly restaurant. It has an active but not rowdy bar. Large selection of craft, including seasonal, beers. The food is typical for this type of restaurant, but at least as good or better than similar establishments. They have a few signature appetizers you don't see at other places. I love the jambalaya and my wife enjoyed her salad. Wait staff is prompt and pleasant.
Took forever to be acknowledged. No follow up. Meal was barely warm. Had to get the waitress every time to complete a follow-up and the wine poor was pitiful for the price you pay
This has always been a go-to place for us; the food is good, the service well-done, and quality consistent. We've dined here for lunch, dinner, and late-evenings about 15-20 times thus far this year, but never again. Here goes... Stopped by last week, mid-afternoon. Prompt, friendly service, ordered drinks. Got carried away talking and catching up ~ about an hour ~ started looking at the menu and decided on two appetizers and a desert. Put down the menus. But instead of the Server visiting, the Owner came to the table and started berating us for not "eating food", wailing on, "this is a restaurant, you can't just come in for 'drinks and a meeting'" (huh, there's a bar section here too???). This, despite we were only 4 occupied tables and were about to order. The berating continued, and got louder, despite informing him of our regular visits, we were about to order, and we would be glad to take ourselves into the Bar area, if there was a problem. In short, the message was, "get out". That was, and will be, our last visit to Oscars.
This was our first visit & we were extremely pleased. Grace gave us excellent service & our meal was delicious. I had the Grouper sandwich & hubby had the portabella blue cheese burger. We're already looking forward to our next visit. BTW, Grace picked the perfect IPA for hubby. There was 5 to choose from!
My wife and I had lunch at Oscar's a couple of weeks ago - first time at the Frederick location. Our server Sam(antha) was personable and professional. The food was great: steak and cheese sandwiches with real pieces of steak which were tender and completely edible as opposed to some other places where the gristle made the sandwich less than enjoyable. The Guinness I ordered was fresh and poured correctly, again as opposed to some other places. We will return.
The pretzels are absolutely amazing, and Lola was an awesome server. Unfortunately we suddenly needed to leave before our entrees arrived, but Lola was super helpful getting our meals packed up and the check taken care of extremely quickly. Seriously, these are probably the best pretzels I've ever had (and we love pretzels).
Had an absolute great time tonight, me and my partner went out for dinner here for the first time, and right off the bat things were good when the host that greeted us at the door was very friendly and got us sat immediately (and also has a great taste in music). Hannah did an absolute wonderful job taking care of us, very kind and funny. My partners burger was piping hot and my Reuben was incredibly delicious! The manager was also very nice and funny, I can definitely say that our experience was one of the best we’ve had at a restaurant in awhile. Definitely recommend the vanilla porter. We will be back soon!!!
I've been recommended this place for ages and have never been until now. It was excellent! Will be coming back. Good atmosphere, great food! Large portions and a brilliant selection of beers .
