I needed to sit at my computer to write this review. We came here because we always like to try a BBQ place. So we thought that it would be a hit because it is across the street from the hospital and there were apparently some locals eating. We should have known that if you don't smell the grill then that is a big indicator. The first thing was the potato salad was not seasoned at all. Very bland. The next was the amount of sugar in the green beans. They were so sweet I was disgusted. Next was the ribs. They were microwaved and were not tender. Last was the cornbread. Not sweet. Even the Arnold Palmer fell way short. It was very expensive and I did not enjoy the food. Not a return trip for me.
We have eaten here twice now and they have some great food! Best BBQ, Ive had in Frederick so far. From the fall off the bone ribs, to the mac N’ cheese, and cornbread, everything we have ordered has been really good. It’s right across from FMH. Service with a smile! SUPPORT LOCAL OWNED BUSINESSES
The greatest location for crab cakes at an excellent price. The chicken salad and Texas caviar are outstanding.
Came here a few weeks ago and enjoyed delicious brisket and ribs. The cornbread was fluffy, sweet, and moist like cake! The shop has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere with staff that are passionate about their food.
So good! I lived in Memphis for some time and was BBQ spoiled. I haven’t found a local place that comes even close to memphis bbq. Decided to try Mackies and it didn’t disappoint. I found my new bbq restaurant in town and couldn’t be more excited. Though my waistline may disagree. So glad I gave it a chance!
Pulled pork was delicious and their sauce is yummy as well. Loved the tequila cake!
Today was our first time eating at this delightful barbecue spot. The lobby is clean and cozy, with all sorts of cool barbecue paraphernalia on the walls. The owners were friendly and organized. The food that we ordered was so good we got beef brisket and pulled chicken, Texas caviar, green beans and bacon, and french fries. It was so satisfying. We live just down the street and when we got back we noticed that they had forgot to put in the coleslaw. We didn’t really want to go back but just wanted to let them know, and at that time they offered to deliver right away. Not only did they bring us an extra size bigger of this tasty coleslaw, they also brought two warm sweet, and fluffy cornbread muffins. I really appreciate that type of service.
Love this place! Some of the best barbecue in Frederick. Try the pulled pork quesadillas and you will not be disappointed! Will definitely be back!
Went by Mackies Frederick location yesterday. Based on BBQ that I've had across the country, Mackies Ribs & Brisket are way up the list. Meat fell off the Ribs, and the Brisket had a crunchy bark, and was perfect inside. And by the way, the homemade Cole Slaw is fantastic too. Go with the spicier of their BBQ Sauces. Can't say enough, just delicious all around.
Bobcat of Frederick chose Mackie's BBQ for our annual Christmas party, and had about 30 guests that evening. They arrived promptly, priced very fairly, and the food was DELICIOUS. We even got a call 2 days later asking how we enjoyed the food. Great service and great food, I highly recommend giving Mackie's a try.
