This place has really gone down hill from when it first opened. It seems every time we go there it's a little dirtier, the tables are a little stickier and the forks and knives have a little more left over food on them. The service seems to get worse and worse too. I remember really enjoying this place when it first opened. But if they can't clean the dining room, I can't imagine what corners they are cutting with the food prep and safety. Think Coal Fire had its days in Frederick and now it's time to either close up or clean up.
Just off 15 on our travels. Better than the usual roadside stops. Can eat on patio if you want. Nice sized pizza with large selection of toppings.
My coworkers and I loved coming into coal fire to see Sarah our favorite bartender every Wednesday and sometimes Thursday’s. Recently we just learned they took away all her shifts without notice. We won’t be going in anymore and I’m sure CF will lose a lot of business as she brought a ton of customers into the bar. Bad decision making on managements part.
The pizza was as limp and floppy as a wet paper towel. The only way to eat it was to use a knife and fork, or use some origami skills and fold it several times in order to get it to your mouth without tilting your head back and eating like a baby bird.
First time I've ever been disappointed with Coal Fire. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan and it was like eating a rubber tire. My husband ordered a sub and calamari and it was great as usual. I'll stick with their pizza (which I love) or a sub in the future.

Ordered the grilled romaine salad. Tasted more like wilted spinach. Lettuce leaves had to much moisture on them creating a more boiled effect. This is the second time I’ve gotten the salad. First time it was good. Pizza that was ordered was good but nothing special. I won’t be going back. It wasn’t worth the money spent.
