This place is a short walk from my house so my son and I will take little adventures up there. The first couple times we went there the food was awesome and the service was fast. But the last time we went there we got takeout and our order was missing multiple items that we paid for, and the food just wasn't as good. The waffles were really soggy, I had to put them in my oven and it's a 2 min drive to get back with the food, so they must have been sitting for a while at the restaurant. Hopefully it was just a fluke because I loved this place!
Last time I was there was 7 years ago went this morning and I have to say the food and the service were 100 times better then under the prior owner. Got my haircut at Middlesex barber shop and Tina said go try Essex diner again so I did and was happily impressed. Try them you just might like them. All the waitresses were very friendly and actually spoke to the customers and without an additude imagine that. The cooks work in tandem together it is something to watch.
Weekends for a group is good by contacting them in advance, but they make accommodations ASAP if you don't. Our great grand children love the attention.

Service was excellent, she was a new waitress, wished I remembered her name. Lady at the door seemed to have an attitude when we wanted to sit on the other side of the restaurant, guess it wasn't her station. Glad she didn't wait on us. There sub had hardly any meat on it, disappointed. My husband's food was excellent, her had the tuna melt. Well worth the money. Will go there again. Nice place
The pizza is awesome! Wait staff is on point and everything has came out great each time I’ve visited. I highly recommend trying them out!
Sausage gravy, cheesesteak, quesadilla, pasta.... doesn't matter
I had two scrambled, corned beef hash and home fries with dry rye toast on the side. Get a table! Eating at the counter on a cold day is not fun. Great food, nice waitstaff. When you're in Essex, I can't say I envy the locale, but here is a very good place to get a meal if one is desired.

Amazing diner... the food was excellent... the staff are amazing as well as friendly... small place but cozy...the prices are affordable.I definitely will be back.
