Chosun of officially the best Korean BBQ in EC now. The service at shin Chon is just below average that it's going to struggle. Service, quality, and speed is key in chosun. Even though they don't have the rice paper, they provide a level of quality that was has been lost around these neck of the woods. We ordered the chosun combo for 4 ppl which comes with beef rib, brisket, and steak. The first aspect is that the presentation is much better than the competition. The dishes are appropriately presented in a plate that matches the quantity. Such a small detail but critical in functionality when eating. The selection of side dishes aren't as strong but a healthy portion is provided. I mean just look at the egg and cold buckwheat noodles. Not only they look amazing, they taste amazing as well. The cold buckwheat noodle is top 5 in Ellicott city in my books.Secondly, the food is seasoned much better than the competition. The seasoning is heavier than the competition but results in a better bite.Lastly but not least, they slice the meat to order. Fresh sliced brisket is crucial in the flavor. I generally stopped eating brisket at Korean restaurants because I sliced my own at home. I can attest to the fact that their open kitchen shows fresh brisket cut to order.Overall, the service was short staffed but still adequate. My biggest pet peeves is when Korean bbq restaurants are busy and they are pushy to get their tables out. So cooking the meat on high heat and rushing the customer should not happen. Many Korean bbq spots forget how communal Korean food should be and take away from the experience as a whole.
The food was authentic and remarkable. We had a friend from South Korea join us, and they confirmed it was just like home.I’m picky, and I enjoyed all of the options.
One of the best Korean BBQ joints Iv ever been to. We ordered the The HAEMUL PA JEON (Korean style seafood pancake) packed with fish, shrimp, squid, scallions and perfectly fried. Our BBQ meat was two fold… GALBI Black Angus Fresh Short Rib + Beef Brisket. Nothing like the smell of raw meat hitting a well oil hot grill, right before your eyes. All the traditional pickled small plates had us smiling. Then they brought out EVEN MORE FOOD! Bubbling gyeranjjim (korean steamed egg bowl) + tofu spicy soup was super tasty. Simply beautiful and delicious experience. Friendly service. We will definitely return.P.S - a bar menu would be great, we wanted to order drinks but had no idea what was being offered.
First time visiting just to try it out. Couldn’t be more disappointed. Portions were extremely small for the price. Moreover, the waitress was absolutely rude from the minute we sat down. still trying to figure out what it is that we did. Oh and they seem to automatically include 20% tip on the bill for a party of 2, which is odd to me, and then have another section for tip once they run the card. You can easily tip 40% if you don’t pay attention. The fact that the waitress automatically included the tip explained to me why she was not worried about showing she could care less about our table. Felt cheated in all aspects… stay away!
I’ve been going to the other Korean BBQ’s in the area for a very long time. But ChoSun is by far the best you can go to. It’s quality and service are so far beyond Honey pig and Iron Age it’s crazy. The owner is so sweet and kind. We go frequently with either 12 of us or just my girlfriend and I about once a month. Definitely check this one out
This is a great Korean BBQ restaurant in Elliott City. The service was amazing, all smiles and ready to answer any questions (because I definitely had some). I had the ribeye and chicken and everything was up to par. Naneun hwagsilhi dol-aol geos-ida
The meat was fantastic and cooked perfectly. Our server was very kind and attentive without hovering. If you’ve been to other KB places, you may think the quantity is smaller, but trust me when I say the quality of the meat is far higher than other places. The sides are also plentiful and delicious.
This was the worst Galchi Jorim ever.Just look at the image of food right after I opened it. I was stunned. It almost looked like they gave me someone else's leftover. This is $34 order?! Unbelievable.
4 and a half.Had a really nice experience!Food is great quality imo, and the sides were not loaded with sugar.Ambiance is great and service was really good considering how busy our server was.No garlic or peppers were given though. I only mention this because I consider them essential. But I'll def come back!
The meat quality is good we loved it. But the portion is nothing close to what’s shown on the menu. The Emperor Galbi picture has more than double of what we actually got, see attached. We tried to upload the pic a few times but got removed every time. We noted it in the comment when checking out hope they can address it.
