I heard many good stories about the New York location so I decided to try this place out. I've had similar food from other places and the white sauce is usually what makes the platter so good, but the white sauce here tastes like watered down ranch. The food was also pretty dry so I couldn't not use the sauce but the sauce didn't really do its justice. The portion is much bigger than I expected but I wish the food actually tasted good.
I ate there yesterday, the chicken was literally white boiled without any spices. gyro was fine. price was up, but not worth it. The original one in NYC, and one in Virginia was much better. I had better gyro before.
Food was not bad. Reason for the low rating is the poor customer service. I came in 4/11/22 around 8pm. I asked the lady serving for a combo, extra meat. She mis heard me and put extra gyro only. I explained to her I wanted extra meet combo which has chicken and gyro. Her face was just pure disgust. She then puts a small scoop of chicken. Like I was in the wrong when this whole time she misheard me. I wish I could tell you this is where the story stops. But when I started eating my food at the table. The whole time I was there I felt unsettled because that same lady was giving me very very dirty looks. I felt very uncomfortable, and I also felt like she was talking about me with her co workers. Terrible EXPERIENCE. Never again. Like I said the food was ok. But that lady alone will make me never ever comeback again. Staff needs training on hospitality. STAY AWAY.
Absolutely love the food here. Good quality and quantity for the price. Keep it up Halal guys and open more shops. I travel more than 10 miles to get here. You need to be everywhere. ??
Great indoor casual dining with a view of the Columbia (Maryland) Mall.
This place used to be amazing . Now every time I go the gyro meat is way over cooked and hard. I have never experienced this before and until they fix this I will eat somewhere else .
I've wanted to try this place for many moons. Went to Columbia and saw it and couldn't resist.. I am disappointed, really. The food was okay at best. The falafel wasn't flavorful or robust. The gyro was meh. I eat halal so I expected more.
I really don’t like to leave bad reviews but I’m doing this in hope to help. The food was disgusting. The chicken had no flavor and dry. The rice was bland. It didn’t even resemble the new York style chicken platters at all. Bland bland bland. Oh and the white sauce tastes like mayo with black pepper mixed in. The service was great the place was clean. The cookie was good also. Sorry not sorry. Just keeping it real. $24.00 went straight in the trash.
I'm sorry, I just can't get with this place. I just don't understand the hype. I tried it out maybe a year ago. I wasn't happy. For some reason gave it another chance the other night and the only thing I was happy with was the insanely huge portion which was 3-4 meals. I got the chicken and beef platter and the beef was actually really good.. it was very reminiscent of lamb and had a lot of good flavor all on its own. The rice and chicken though? What is up with that? Absolutely no flavor. None. Have these people never heard of spices? I literally don't understand.I'm pretty sure the only thing added to the rice is orange food coloring and the chicken, maybe just salt. The falafel was inedible - tasted like someone accidentally knocked over a jar of ground coriander into the batter bowl. The white sauce that came in the plastic container with the falafel had literally no flavor. I actually thought I must have covid for a second. Water has more flavor.The packet of white sauce just tastes like salted mayonnaise and the hot sauce doesn't have a good flavor at all - but I know neither of these things are this location's fault, the sauce packets are made in what I'm assuming is a factory. I honestly just don't understand how people are so obsessed with this place. If you want real halal meat and rice with white sauce, go to Naz's in Burtonsville. Best lamb, chicken, beef, rice platter I've ever had in my life. Their gyros are incredible as well - the pita is spectacular.
Delicious food! If you're looking for a standard gyro / falafel place, this one is great. They have both wraps and bowls with multiple customization options. Very reasonably priced as well.
