I really wanted to love this place. Food trucks at the lakefront for 7/4. Advertising said trucks begin serving food at 5:00. 5:15, they opened their window. 5:20, they said "we begin serving food at 5:00"...ummm, excuse me, it's after 5:00. 5:45, I was finally able to place an order for two patties and two coco bread. 6:00, my order was ready. The coco bread was partly frozen and mostly stale and freezer burned - it crumbled when I attempted to open it. The patties were luke warm and chewy. They also left a horrible after taste in our mouths. I was sooo in the mood for a good, fresh patty with some warm and soft coco bread. How do you mess up patties and coco bread? Fail. Fail. Fail. Do better, Althea's.

Ughhhh...I came back to the festival in Columbia this year just for Altheas based on the meal I had last year from them which I raved about. This year sadly I didn't get the same experience. I ordered my usual jerk chicken rice and cabbage. I get that the chicken portions vary but every piece i had was an unfamiliar part of the chicken. No drum or thigh. (I requested dark meat) It was very fatty, hard to separate and eat and just overall unsatisfying. I should have taken the hint when no jasmine rice was available that today wasn't my day but I took it with rice and peas thinking it would be as tasty as the chicken I had last year. The only thing good about my mealq was the cabbage. Like other reviews the rice was flavorless and bland.

Althea's Kitchen recently catered our Caribbean-themed company picnic for 120 people and the food was amazing! I received nothing but rave reviews from our employees. Althea was professional, responsive and a pleasure to work with. If you don't need catering, visit her food truck. I promise you will not be disappointed!

The best Oxtail! Customer service 5 ⭐️! Omg so delicious, flavorful, and plenty portion. Can’t wait to go back again. My friends will definitely try!

The jerk chicken was a little dry but really good. Unfortunately, I thought the meal was priced too highly especially because one of the pieces was a back and the meal didn't include plantains (had to order separately). I also ordered the beef patty which was good and the cabbage and carrots which were steamed well. I agree with another reviewer that the rice and peas could have used more thyme and salt.Suggestion-save the backs for making stock or seasoning but don't serve. I was glad to support but $19 for a chicken meal w/o much chicken isn't cool.

my goodness. hands down best jamaican food in DMV. the portions are good and the jerk chicken just melt deliciously off the bone and mouth. it's nicely seasoned. I want to try each menu item now.

Drove 20 minutes because of reviews...?. I could not find the store anywhere in the shopping mall and there are NO SIGNS FOR YOUR BUSINESS!!! Customers can't read your mind where you are!!!Put signs up! Waste of time and gas!?Reviews are likely family, friends or fake. Don't waste your gas.

It was just ok. Two of my five oxtails were only bone and fat. Really small portions for the money. Sorry to say will not be back.

Food was amazing. Service was great and they are super friendly. We had the best of both worlds (curry and jerk chix), beef patties, and callaloo with saltfish. All absolutely incredible!!

The food is absolutely delicious and the customer service is exemplary. I love love love Althea's.
