Classic but overhyped neighborhood staple kept alive by nostalgia. Could be 4 or 5 stars with an update to the deck area alone. The strong array of snowball flavors (including a wide variety of diet flavors) almost makes it 4 stars but inconsistent service knocks it to more of a 3.5. The deck area is run down and smells of urine in the sun. You can just as easily go to Opie's right nearby, Rita's on Frederick Rd or Sweet Frog in the Hmart shopping center just up Rolling rd.
Found this place based upon recommendations. It a quaint place. Has some outdoor seating. Looks like a small family owned business. Polite people they have a plethora of snowcone and ice cream desserts, including those decked out super milkshakes with the dipped rims and giant pieces of desserts stuck on top. It's pretty obvious they are combating the main chain competition by offering what they have ( Diary Queens blizzards and dipped cones and Rita's snow cones and ice cream slushy mixes) However, this place beats the competition in 2 places 1. Size: they make some pretty big snow and ice cream cones. 2. Taste: they have more flavors than Rita's . Must have been 30 or more and they are all available at the same time. I had a large mango/peach. It was delicious!! The texture was very nice. Not as grainy as a traditional Baltimore snoball. Also in ice creams variety and toppings. They have a huge selection altogether. I'm curious to try that blueberry soft serve.
I was dreaming of a brownie Sunday and Tastee Zone delivered! Not only was the bottom of my bowl lined with brownies, but there was a heaping mound of ice cream in the center, topped off with whip cream, strawberry sauce and oreo cookie pieces! (The kind woman at the window let me swap out the hot fudge and nuts for free). Calorie overload I'm sure, it was soooooo worth it. Absolutely divine!
This is our favorite ice cream spot we have been coming here for years. EVERYONE is always super friendly. We love how they are adding new things to the menu.
Omg I will drive the 15 mins to get my snowball. When I say lort they done did good, they done did good. ;)
Rude old lady working there. Tried arguing with us over what topping we said on a snowball. Had an attitude after we told her the order was wrong and kept insisting we said something different… just a piece of advise… over the 30 cents of shaved ice, it’s not worth you arguing with the people keeping you open. Opies has always taken the cake over this place.
The treat was good and all but the problem is that a staff was being rigid and tough to others from yelling and stuff. Would not recommend to people who don’t like strict people ?
They advertise several flavors on the poster prior to you getting to the register but when you get to the register the ice cream machine was broke so they did not have those flavors. Suggestion: They should have covered up the sign wiith those flavors that they did not have available. Kids was a little disappointed when we got to the register and found out they did not have those flavors
I visited a couple years ago and the server, Alicia was really friendly and the ice cream was a great value, I highly recommend Tastee Zone!
I love the snow shakes here, they are heavenly with just enough syrup....glad to have come across this gem
