The crab cake was VERY good. The green beans were excellent, BUT the fingerling potatoes were not cooked very well. They were burnt on the outside but still somewhat raw on the inside. I will be back to try other dishes. Try the crab cake dinner but be aware of the potatoes. The Alnd Raspberry cake was AMAZING! It was a large slice so I ended up taking 1/2 of it home.
There is not one bad thing on the menu here. Quaint little venue in Catonsville that has friendly staff, exceptional food and innovative cocktails. Oysters, salmon and crab cakes are phenomenal here. Save room for dessert, tons of delicious options.
Seven of us journeyed here to celebrate Mother’s Day, our first big outing since Covid. A great meal. We were seated back toward the raw bar area, with plenty of room for us all comfortably. Several started with appetizers: steamed shrimp to share, gumbo, and onion soup. I’m not wild about old bay, which was added to the shrimp, but it really didn’t overwhelm the lovely shrimp flavor. Very nice surprise. We all got different entrees, I was able to see a pretty wide range of dishes, including a very large, well charred steak. Everyone enjoyed their meals and several share….the sesame encrusted sea bass (one of the catch of the day offerings) was delicious , as were the seared scallops with couscous. And the bouillabaisse, which I ordered , was to die for! Shrimp, mussels, clams and two large chunks of fish (sea bass and rockfish ) swimming in a delicious tomato y-garlic broth, with a couple of slices of garlic toast to soak up all the broth….yum. Most of us also tried their dessert offerings….the creme brûlée was delicious and just enough. Also on the menu were several large, obscenely rich cheesecake offerings, hot apple pie a la mode, and two flavors of sorbet (lemon & coconut), served in the shells of the fruits from whence they came. It was mother’s Day, but we weren’t rushed at all. A very enjoyable meal all around. The wait staff was attentive, but not overly. Plating was beautiful. I’m looking forward to returning
The drinks and raw bar get five stars. The BLAND over breaded fried green tomatoes and fried oysters get 2 1/2 stars!!Everything thing looks so pretty and your hopes are up... just to be dashed! Such a shame...
Fantastic restaurant in Catonsville Maryland. Focus on seafood. Great small plates to share as well as full entrees. The prosciutto wrapped scallops and old bay shrimp were outstanding. Wide selection of oysters available. Good beer and wine list. And fantastic desserts. The raspberry amaretto cake was great. Staff is super friendly. Only challenge is parking at times. Highly recommended.
Hooray, the soft crabs are back! Delicious dinner last night, the tempura battered soft crab. Big, meaty, sweet crabmeat-utterly perfect!
I eat at many restaurants in Baltimore and across the Country. I have to take my hat off to Executive Chef Rob Rehment for and outstanding performance across the board on my first visit to this hidden gem of a restaurant. Our food was at a minimum excellent, everything from the Fried Green Tomatoes, Oyster Stew, Mussels in White Wine Sauce, just to get started were all spectacular. For the main course my girlfriend had the Chilean Sea Bass and I hade the 16 ounce Black and Blue Ribeye, both on the nightly specials and recommended by our server Madison who was also top notch. The portions were generous and cooked to perfection per our desired request. I don't want to forget the Garlic Flavored Bread that was to die for and the Crème Brûlée desert that was also prepared spot on. The only negative I have has nothing to do with the food but with our seating. Our booth was near the hostess station and the hostess permitted the two large groups waiting on seating to linger next to our table. I would suggest that in the future the hostess have them wait on the entrance ramp and not next to the tables of patrons that are otherwise having a spectacular dining experience. Overall a must for those that enjoy a truly great dining experience. Our bill was $159.00 but we had a soup to nuts meal that was well worth it. Just be careful where yousit.
Oh.My.Goodness!!! A friend told me about this location so I decided to check it out. Blown away!!!! This place is deceiving upon first look but it's bigger and more grand than you can imagine on the inside! And then comes the food! The menu is delectable, sure...but it does NO JUSTICE to the natural fare that awaits!! No matter what your "thing", Catonsville Gourmet makes it better than you can imagine! Steak, seafood, fish, shell fish - it doesn't matter! I was blown away by Catonsville Gourmet and I simply can't wait to go back! Soon!
