The waiter was nice and friendly,l. However, the food took a while to be served which one would think that would be ok trusting the food will be cooked fresh. The potatoes were freshly cooked and delicious but the chicken came dark in color and wasn’t served out of the clay pot immediately the spices tasted like it was marinated for a while more than a night and at the same time the chicken was dry even the thigh piece with only 4 pieces of chicken served which made the dish overpriced. The complimentary rice with the Punjab chicken was fluffy and flavorsome . I would have given 3 stars at the most but because i started to have a stomach ache after the meal which i feel was caused from the chicken that i had 1 piece of i couldn’t give more than 2. The atmosphere is dull. It was ok to try but not worth a second visit. The garlic nan and parata were both nice.
The food was amazing!!! I got the spicy tikka masala and a fruit drink recommended by our hostess, they give a lot of food and I always have enough for left overs. They had amazing service and were very accommodating to all our needs The area is really nice for sight seeing after wards. Also amazing garlic naan. If your thinking about going to a new place or are craving Indian this is the spot!!!
Excellent ambience. Service is great. Walking into virraaj feels like home.Food is delicious and nostalgic. This is my second time here and I have no regrets picking virraaj as my go to.Best cocktails.. and wonderful hospitality…..
We are visiting from out of town and walked in based on the high ratings and reviews. You will not be disappointed! Virraaj is the owner here and made some solid recommendations. My boys love butter chicken and wanted to try something different. Virraaj urged us to order the butter chicken, as “it’s the best butter chicken if you like butter chicken.” Pretty accurate statement there. He made other various recommendations and we loved everything! You will not be disappointed. What a gem!!
Went here for a take out and the experience was amazing!! The ambience of this place just brings nostalgia as it makes one feel back at home…. It was an authentic experience!!The food was amazing and probably the best I’ve had in Washington DC area.. a must visit for people wanting to experience Indian food at its best..
Took my father here for lunch, his first time really out since Covid began. We ordered a feast and he and I loved everything. The samosas are a great appetizer, their tamarind accompaniment is fresh and tangy. We ordered several entrees: the chili crab brought the heat, the shrimp malai curry was a creamy delight, the butter chicken was the perfect blend of sweet and smokey (one of the best I've ever had), the dahl tadka solid, and their chicken biryani was packed with dense spice and flavor. Service was friendly, warm, and attentive. Very well run place with modern and elegant south Asian decor. Highly recommended.
We had dinner yesterday in Virraaj, Bethedda. We were group of 8people. The ambiance and food were all very good. Their staffs and manager were very attentive. Their food were really very tasty and authentic. I love their appetizers, dal, spinach and cheese, actually I think I like all their dishes. Very spicy, but I love it. :D I hope to be back again next week.
Excellent food and amazing hosting. A must have when your in Bethesda. Cocktails are cutely prepared with various palettes.
