Loyal to Pines of Rome for well over 30 years… and I cannot believe that I just ordered three things and through two of them out! If you order the fried zucchini it has zero flavor it’s fried but there’s no seasoning at all and be careful because they put it on some type of piece of paper that gets shredded from the heat of the food and you end up eating that as well so that one in the garbage then I ordered the carbonara it was not al dente it was super hard and the bacon was also very tough so that went in the garbage as well… I am extremely disappointed and very surprised because their food is usually always delicious
After enjoying a traditional, thin-crust pizza with toppings, we're delighted to have found a new Italian spot in Bethesda. The pizza was excellent...and also delicious when we had it for leftovers the following day. Just before we entered the restaurant, a patron who was leaving told us "the white pizza is to die for." Sure enough, there were at least 3 carry-out customers who picked up their order of white pizza. Next time!
Terrific restaurant I've been coming here for years, their staff are so friendly, food is very fresh. I wish they had better food containers for take out it doesn't seal well the box was full of liquids. Overall food is great! Love their pastas and tried their whole fish branzino tonight i like that they spruce it up with chopped garlic and herbs. Everything I've tried is good!
A Bethesda classic! Pines of Rome is one of the best Italian restaurants in the area. The food in delicious and very reasonably priced, the service is fantastic, and the ambience is relaxed and wonderful. 10/10 I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal and experience!
This was the worst food ever. The meat sauce had no meat in it. After I said three times I wanted meat sauce, we were brought what was called to be “meat flavored” sauce which looked like crushed tomatoes out of a can. Bread was not crispy, it was chewy and cheap. There was no flavor to the food, no seasoning, no fresh Parmesan cheese. Simply awful.
We used to adore this place! The garlic was browned, the food was seasoned, the peppers were sautéed, not steamed! The linguine and clams was tasteless. Almost like water with some oil, and we even asked for extra garlic. Its a sad day to say goodbye because unacceptable food is passed as acceptable
The mighty have fallen on hard times, it seems. I remember their old location and have fond memories from my childhood, but the new location and the latest meals I've had there have been sub par. I'm hopeful they can eventually return to their former state some day.
Food was very tasty. I recommend the cheese & tomato pizza to start. Then try any fresh fish or fillet on special. The veal and shrimp dishes are top notch, especially the Veal Chop. Best Eggplant Caponata I’ve ever had!!
Very nice little Italian restaurant with a large menu with plenty of choices. In our party the Cheese Ravioli with marinara sauce was a big hit, as was the antipasto salad.
Extremely good Italian food! Even doing takeout. The White Pizza is a favorite of mine and of many people I know.
