I love Chaia tacos! they're delicious and I'm thrilled that they offer vegan cheese and source all of the ingredients from local farms.
Enjoyed a taco trio. Loved that each taco can be chosen individually and that they had a good selection of vegetarian taco options. Also, first time having green rice and absolutely delish!
I was going to give this 3 stars. However, I can't because of the danger that was posed today while recieving food here. However, first, I'll start with what was the good? The good is the food taste amazing. Both my wife and I ordered the taco trio and the ingredients are fresh, tasty, filling, and the price was on point for what we received. However, this leads me into the danger part. When our name was called to pick up our order we received our order and went outside to eat. However, we started taking the food out and it was not our food. Upon looking at the bag further they gave us someone else's order. What's worse? When we returned the order to the restaurant and identified the issue you would think "no biggie, they gave you the right food, right?". That they did. HOWEVER, they were contemplating what to do with the wrong food (in Spanish) they gave us when we already told them we touched the food. If my wife didn't speak Spanish and called then out on they needed to throw it away I am worried they may have given that order to the customer it should have gone to originally. Hello? COVID? Other sicknesses? Law suit in the making? For this reason alone we refuse to eat here. However, the other issues is the customer service when arriving is horrible. No welcome to the store no hey go order on this tablet here, nothing. The only customer service is when they call your name to take your order. This is saddening, especially since the one in Georgetown is amazing. This Pop Up will fail to exist if they keep this up. Hopefully, someone from the primary company sees this review and does something about this. Bethesda Row and customers alike in the area deserve better. Do better.
Awful service! I've been patient with this restaurant as I've been a regular at the Chinatown and Bethesda locations. Today was my last time frequenting this chain. I ordered a dish that took over 30 minutes to warm in the restaurant's slow-cooking microwave. The manager on-site gave me the meal and said that the middle may still be cold; if so, she'll continue to cook it. Sadly, it was cold after I took a bite, even after a 30-minute wait, so she placed it back in the microwave to heat. Another customer came in after me and ordered the same dish. He got tired of the long wait and told the manger he would take it home to heat it. The manager accidentally gave him the dish I tasted since she placed them in the same microwave, which is unacceptable; he was gone with the meal before the manager could correct it. I refused to wait any longer and the manager offered a refund--something similar happened at the Chinatown location, as it was a 45-minute wait. I spoke with the head manager or owner offsite via a phone call for a refund and reminded him that this was not the first time I had to get a refund for long wait times and poor service. He was rude and dismissive and noted he issued the refund.
Delicious vegetarian tacos in a small but cozy space. Staff was friendly and service was quick.
I was excited to try Chaia because I lean vegetarian and love a good sweet potato taco. I ordered the taco trio and a side of rice. Unfortunately the rice was completely undercooked and also under seasoned. The sweet potato and scrambled egg tacos were great, but I also ordered the cumin roasted cauliflower taco and it was literally cauliflower on a tortilla. What?? I know this location just opened so I don’t want to be too harsh but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way for these.
I was so excited to try this plant based addition to Bethesda, unfortunately the tacos lacked seasoning. The mushroom one wasn’t too bad, but still not enough for me to patronize again.
Great place to eat in Bethesda row. Great food just like the original DC location.
Amazingly delicious food. Tacos are generously stuffed. We always order to with extra sauce on the tacos to give it a really awesome punch for the palate. Kids love the side of beans. Better than Mexican grandma's. The side order of tortillas is freshly made in front of you. Great deal for the price and quality of food! Highly recommended. Even the carnivorous teens in the family like it.
YUM! I had the taco trio, and they were all amazing. Really excited to have a great new vegetarian, vegan, AND gluten free place in the neighborhood. Not to mention super reasonably priced! A new lunch favorite.
