Wonderful experience! I had friends from out of town so we went to get crabs (first time picking them) and we’re blown away by the food and the customer service. Our waitress was so good she even showed us how to crack open the crabs to eat them. This place is nothing fancy- just good food, great service, and a patio to eat on. Will definitely be returning!
Great crab house in the area. Individual price is the same like you buy a dozen. Call to reserve for larger ones.
We have been frequenting the Bethesda Crab House for close to 40 years and it’s a tradition in my family every time I visit. We ALL look forward to the experience of sitting at picnic tables, eating traditional blue pincher crabs, having shrimp, corn and beer. Needless to say our recent visit didn’t disappoint. We ordered dozen jumbo crabs and they didn’t disappoint. The crabs were incredible and the service impeccable. In fact 2 of the servers were grandsons of the original owner who has passed away but the current owner has carried the torch!!!
Cant speak to the food but can speak to the staff. I work nearby and was on break. It was 99 degrees out and starting to rain. The only shaded covered place was the crab house. There was also a fan or two. I figured since it’s just a couple benches outside, and there was not ONE single person there, (nor have I ever seen anyone there), it would’ve OKAY to sit there and eat for a few minutes while cooling off before going back to work. Again, not a single person had walked in or out of this place. Well, some big dude came out and said “this is only for the crab house” and made me leave. He wasn’t necessarily aggressive or rude, but he knows the temp outside and I asked once again if I could just sit and finish my food. Again I was told crab house only so I left. I’d understand if there were people nearby or no open seats but it’s just rude and inconsiderate. The place however smelled gross and had flies everywhere. I personally wouldn’t go anywhere near this place again.
The crabs were gigantic and great although the price was also great! We ordered steamed shrimp and fried oysters and they were outstanding and we also suggest the cole slaw and hush puppies . The only negative is parking and you must be careful because the towing service was active all evening!
The place does crabs and does it well! They have outdoor seating but it was a little cold for us so we were inside. They price by crab, half or full pound. And then by size medium, large, jumbo. They also have some sandwiches and sides, but they crab is where it is!!Cooked right after you order it is fresh and delicious! He does it right!
My brother surprised me with an early Mother's Day gift by purchasing a dozen Jumbo ? for me from my A1+ very favorite restaurant! Because these crabs are sooooo full, I can only eat 3 or 4 at a time, so I end savoring/enjoying eating them over 2-3 days! I have been a patron of Bethesda ? House for years and have never, ever gotten a light crab and have always enjoyed the best of service from the staff. I normally eat in, however since I moved to the other side of Maryland I am unable to get there as often as I used to when I lived 15 minutes away. Rest assured, during my adult life I have been up and down the East Coast sampling all types of seafood and BETHESDA ? HOUSE will always be #ONE with me!!!...Vicey
Been going to this place for years. Consistently decent quality, reasonable price and down to earth service. I’m glad the pandemic has not changed that.
