This place was recommended to me for their Rockfish Bites, so I figured I'd try it out when up that way. Since Rockfish Bites aren't really my thing, I went for some wings & pickle chips. As seen by the photo, the wings were not the best, however the pickle chips were tasty. Service was fairly quick by the bartender at the time, that's about it.
Kinda weird that potato salad is the automatic side for entrees...everyone likes french fries, not everyone likes potato salad. Unless...this is a way to get a bonus $1.50 from everyone who detests potato salad? In which case, genius. When I asked for an onion free alternative she said she'd bring me fries and brought me onion rings? The rock fish wrap was also really disappointing, didn't taste seasoned and the little sauce that was in it sank to the bottom of the wrap and was diluted by tomato water. I only give 2 stars because our waitress was funny.
Hostess was a little snooty, but... Service was kind of slow. Waitress was attentive and friendly. Food was good but a bit on the pricey side - $13 for mushroom swiss burger with fries. Nice drink selection.
Enjoyed drinks after a staff event with a group of 9. The bar was crowded for the time. The decor was amazing, the restaurant and restroom were clean. The bartender came over to us within 10 minutes took our order and had it out to us within another 10 minutes. I would come back again.
The honey old bay wings were probably one of my favorites! The vibes are good and they even have dancing on the weekends.
Went on a crowded Friday night, but our 7:00pm reservation seated us promptly & pleasantly. Even got the requested booth, though they said they couldn't guarantee that. Everyone, from the hostess desk (manager?) to the girl who seated us, to our server & waitress, were so very friendly. Valerie is wonderful. There were 4 of us. We arrived a little early, so ordered drinks at the bar. They were good & reasonably priced. We ordered 3 separate appetizers to share, all delicious (crab dip, rockfish bites & fried cheese). Our dinner entrees were exceptional and the presentation was very nice (seafood medley, filet mignon, shrimp 'n grits, French dip). Same with desserts. Always love their food & atmosphere.
Their Smoky Mountain wings are hands down the best wings you will ever have. There is nothing out there even close! If you like wings, you will order these every time you go. If you don’t like wings…..you will. Highly recommended!!
A surprisingly wonderful meal! The atmosphere is great ... From a huge antler chandelier to ski chairlift seating, it was delightful without being overdone. It didn't hurt that I was seated by the two blazing fireplaces! The service was terrific, and the food was really, really great! I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf with REAL mashed potatoes and delicious green beans. The shrimp salad sandwich looked wonderful, loaded with whole, medium sized shrimp. Great sweet tea served in individual little pitchers. Nice specialty drink, beer and wine lists. We'll be back ... Soon!
Food was historically good, last couple times were not so hot. Now, they no longer offer carry out at peak hours, claiming they can't do it b/c they aren't equipped for it, as someone who I assume is the owner defensively replied to another customer review here. That, however, is not true. You can order through Door Dash, you just have to pay more. I guess they make some money off that and don't care about the people that kept them in business early in the pandemic. Also note the nature of the manager's replies here to any remotely negative comment. We had not given up on the Lodge, but because of that, we will now. Glad I saw these reviews. We will never eat there again despite it being very close to our house.Edit: 1. I never mentioned the word "new," to which you made sarcastic comments about being "hardly new." Do you have copy and paste replies at this point, cause you used the wrong one?Edit 2: Your entire perspective on this issue is that you are far too busy during dinner to handle it. You replied during a dinner rush on a Saturday night. Maybe if you got off the internet, your service would be better.
The Hickory Lodge is a happy place. It is decorated with such care, it makes you happy to be there. The service and food were both excellent. I had the "Grilled Chicken Avocado Bacon" sandwich and my friend had the "Hamburger Avocado Bacon ". We chose the onion ring option with our lunch. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We will be returning soon!
