Can’t miss the squash blossoms but every dish was a hit here. Wednesdays are fish and chips night and they were crispy and perfectThe brown butter toffee cake was another winner as was the Mac n cheese
Went here a few weeks ago. Despite clearly being understaffed the day I went, the staff worked so hard to provide good service and the food was great. For drinks I ordered the “smash palace” which I liked (a little sour, light and refreshing), second drink was endless summer (fruity base which was great, but the black lava salt ruined it for me, im sure others would like it). Strong drinks. Appetizer was the Moorish Eggplant, very savory with great flavor along with the bread. As my main I ordered the steak frites cooked medium, which weren’t cut up like they traditionally are, but was still delicious. So tender and juicy with great flavor. The atmosphere of this place is stylish but casual. Street parking around. I felt like the price was worth the experience. Would definitely return.Side note: I went on a Wednesday when the special was Shepherds pie. I didn’t get it but it seemed like people who did order were waiting a while, probably for the dish to be made as a whole because once it was ready everyone who ordered got it at the same time. Just be aware you might have to wait on this dish depending on if they have one ready when you come in.
This is my 3rd visit. As a newbie to Baltimore I love that this restaurant is so close. Friday I got their Friday night dinner special which is a Caesar salad, steak and frites, and dessert. I also had a few cocktails( smash palace). Really good portion size. Steak could’ve used a bit more seasoning but the butter on top was great flavor. Fries with garlic aioli was amazing. I didn’t love the apple crisp but the ice cream that came with it was delicious.
Really liked the food and cocktails. Like many, I found this on the Top 50 list and wanted to try it out. The only issue was the lighting. It was really bright and I’m not one for using my phone to read the menu. But it felt like someone lost an earring kind of bright. Took away from the feel of the place. The burger was terrific though.
Second time here and still yummy. Well crafted cocktails and food. Sat a the bar - barkeeps were so friendly. Try a beautiful part of town and enjoy a fine time
Short version: The Tilted Row gave us somewhat mixed feelings, and it's a little hard to strongly recommend them, but I would suggest giving them a try. Their recipes are good and their effort seems genuine, but they miss the mark in some places, and I think their ingredient sourcing is off.Long version: My fiance and I dined here on a busy summer Friday night. We started off with a few cocktails, which were very enjoyable. We then ordered the corn fritters and shrimp three ways to start. The corn fritters were basically glorified funnel cake with a very small amount of corn in them. The shrimp three ways was a mixed bag. The cevice was excellent, while the shrimp in the kataifi tasted not fresh, and the shrimp in the dip was basically absent, though the dip itself was good. For our main dishes, I ordered the Date Night Steak Night and my fiance ordered the chicken milanese. This is where things get a little dicey. The chicken and accompanying sides were delicious, featuring airy breadcrumbs and a very tender texture. On the other hand, the ribeye steak dish suffered some serious problems. The truffle mashed potatoes and green beans sides were excellent. However, the ribeye had a big problem. The sear/cook on the ribeye was just right, but the meat had a very funny sort of strange taste to it. I've eaten many ribeyes in my day, and have never tasted anything quite so offputting in such a steak. The actual flesh tasted more-or-less normal, but the fat in particular tasted borderline disgusting. It tasted like the smell of a petting zoo, with no exaggeration. I asked the restaurant staff about the pedigree of the beef, and they told me it was sourced from an unknown farm in Australia. I wonder why they would opt for that, when there is so much delicious local beef. Either way, I have to admit that I very sadly was not able to finish eating the ribeye. Try as I might, the flavor was very hard to excuse and almost made me sick. Again, I don't think this is a fault of the cooking process -- the steak was well seasoned and cooked exactly to the temperature I was expecting -- but the actual beef served on this particular night was pretty gross. We rounded out with the bourbon pecan pie, which was super tasty. Overall, I think The Tilted Row has a lot of potential, but I think (in my naive opinion) that it might serve them better to source their ingredients locally, and make sure to taste their food before serving it on a given night. It's difficult for me to recommend The Tilted Row at this time, given that I was strongly disappointed by the fanciest and most expensive item on their menu. I hope to try them again and have a better impression of them in the future. They did so much right, but also messed up in a few crucial places.
Went for Brunch and the menu looked great. However the food was bland and over priced. we got the crab deviled eggs, cinnamon butter biscuits, tilted burger, loaded fries, mushroom omelette. The staff was very nice and the place is nice and clean.
Went for Baltimore restaurant week and was looking forward to experiencing this chef’s particular POV. The execution was decent but leaned more towards straightforward/basic rather than a particular angle or care that is inferred via the restaurant description- even the location is in a gentrified former disabled person’s apartment building not a row house central to the story. The octopus was far too charred and ‘lamb skewers’ were just a bit of ground lamb (like a mini köfte) or meatball which should be said. I think it could be a fine place for a local lunch or something very informal. Will return to check out the bar as they have a vast whiskey selection.
Went for restaurant week and was impressed with the creativity and quality of the menu. Hip ambience. It didn't hurt that our server's sister went to the University of Michigan. Go Blue!
These guys just try harder and continue to impress us with the variety and quality of their food and drinks as well as the service. Tilted Row has definitely become our go-to local spot and it's been great seeing their success. Can't wait to see how they'll continue to refine and impress!
