It was aweful for delivery food and their service was one of the worst. We ordered the red boat dish and the red velvet cake came!!!!! And the pho dish came with a little packet that bean sprouts and sources in it. The bean sprouts were already gone bad and smell wasn't good. Highly disappointed their food and service. I do not recommend this place.
Service was cold hearted...food was ordered n came with in minutes just Luke warm and I was the only one in the restaurant...ordered a Thai iced tea and lemongrass chicken tacos...wasn't impressed with the flavor of lukewarm lemongrass chicken and alot of cold veggies piled on top...
So excited to have found this gem! Fresh ingredients, super savory. The steamed buns were excellent but so was the pho. We've also gobbled up anything with lemongrass. Ten stars.
They have vegan Pho! Actually, they made a lemongrass broth with all the Pho fixings... I'm pretty sure nobody in Vietnam would call it legit, but what is a vegan to do when he's craving beef both?! It was served extra hot and I had enough to eat until I was full and take the other half home. I intend on going back! The interior is small, clean, and cute.
The Red Boat was a pleasant surprise. We were going to a show across the street at the Hippodrome and meeting friends for dinner beforehand. Our original place was booked so we called The Red Boat on a whim (per our map app it is very close) and they said they had no wait. So we met our friends there.Very small and initially looks like a takeout-only place like you'd see in a strip mall. However it is anything but that. Their menu is not huge but it does have a lot of variety. Choose your noodles, veggies, protein (meat), sauce, etc., and they'll put it all in a nice dish for you. They do have other plates as well, but I chose this and was very pleased. Some apps on the menu too (my wife got the rolls which she loved). The waitstaff is very nice. And they have a separate room (small) for seating. If we're in that area again we'll definitely stop by.
The staff was amazing! Very caring & helpful. My vegetarian pho w/Tom Yum broth was excellent. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect when I saw the plastic bowls & spoons. It was so good I didn't mind the plastic ware.
I love this place so much, I've had the Chicken Pho, the Lemongrass Chicken Tacos, The Boat, Bahn-Mi, and their Thai Iced Tea. Never been disappointed with anything I've ordered, and they package their pho to-go really well so you can assemble it yourself which is great. Really sad they closed their DC locations.
Poor ambiance and felt sketchy. Like the covid protection plexiglass felt like bulletproof glass at a liquor store in a bad part of town. Not entirely their fault, but they get some of the city riff raff in there which happened on our visit. But there wasn't a line and we got our food pretty fast. And the exceeded my and my vegetarian wife's expectations. I had a bulgogi platter (pic). Meat was great. Cabbage was great.Wife (and I) loved her veg pho (pic) which is essentially a thai Tom Yum soup with vegies. She added tofu which is in that small bowl.
Terrible service. We waited 20+ minutes for a super simple order of two boba drinks, all because they assumed we already had our drinks and we were just "staring creepily" at them for no reason. Ended up giving us the wrong toppings for our drinks and charged us more just because. The change they gave back wasn't even American currency: IT WAS CANADIAN CURRENCY. WHAT KINDA BS IS THIS PLACE, IT USED TO BE SO GOOD.
I'm a uber driver.. I went in to ask the address plus try something on my birthday today. The small girl and the other girl with to much makeup could not tell me the address where they are working.. then got an attitude.. never even picking up from there ever..
