Where is this place?!? I saw reviews on a Baltimore food blog, and the food looks absolutely beautiful. Too bad I never got to taste it. I lived in Baltimore City for about 20 years, and I'm pretty good with directions, so I thought I could handle venturing to a different part of the city. NOT! I came in from the county and parked on ONE of the east cross streets ( why do you have 2 a block from each other!?!) Anyway, walked back and forth on South Charles street for about 10 minutes trying to find this place. Could NOT find 1060- anything. One block was 1040s and 1050's, next block was 1100s. GPS kept telling me I had arrived but NO signs said "Chicken Lab". If you're from out of town, do what I did and just stop at one of the many many other restaurants on this strip.Response to owner: TY for your response. Bumping your rating up 2 stars. I plan on trying back, this time I'll be looking for Cross Street Market!
Food is great but the service is BAD. I ordered a pick up but when I got there saw my wings and gangjeong were laying on the counter, uncovered and unattended. I got there late anyway (no updates on the progress of my order) so won't complain about food getting cold but with staffs and customers standing/talking over the counter it didn't seem very hygiene. Customer-service wise, I was not greeted and the lady staff looked properly confused the entire time. When I said I came for a pick up, instead of confirming my name/order, she turned to other staff then talked to other customer over me. She was holding a ticket with my name printed on it and my food still laying there lol, but did nothing until the owner came and packed my food. Overall, food: 5 stars, service: 1 - for the sake of the owner.
Best tasting Korean food in the city! Come here if you want an authentic and appetizing meal! Great service as well! 10/10
So glad this place opened up in Cross Street Market! We got the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Gang-jeong, the Jalapeño Garlic Boneless Combo with Rice Cake, and the Kimchi Fries. The chicken was juicy and crispy, and the rice cake was so soft. The fries were also so crispy yet soft, and we couldn’t get over how flavorful the cheese-kimchi combo was. Great portions too! Overall super yummy, especially at this price!
Very impressed with this great new Korean chicken option at the Cross Street Market. Great service, the fried chicken is perfectly crispy, and we thoroughly enjoyed the kimchi fried rice as well. Looking forward to trying some of the other wing flavors soon.
I have lived in Fed hill for many years now, and although there are many decent restaurants in Fed, I hadn’t found a go to until I happen to try The Chicken Lab. Since trying there food, I’ve been back many times weekly and honestly can’t get it enough. Awesome authentic Korean fried chicken!! If in Fed Hill area, this is a MUST try……….
So, I did try chicken lab over the weekend, two dishes to be exact. My verdict I liked one more than the other, but very tasty nonetheless. I had the fried chicken drumstick combo with a spice level of call the doctor. I loved it, don't even go there if you can't handle heat. Will try other flavors on subsequent visits . They also have a Korean street food Gang-jeong, I had it with chicken (boneless) and their sweet and spicy sauce. I liked the veggies and the rice cake, but really was not into the chicken, maybe I just don't like boneless chicken, it wasn't crispy enough for me. I will do the shrimp next time and have them use a different sauce with more heat.
The staff was so nice and helped me pick the best meal for me. Delicious and different to fed hill!! Exactly what cross street needed!
I had high hopes for the Chicken Lab and it absolutely did NOT disappoint. We ordered boneless wings with fried tteok since the wait on bone-in was longer than our stomachs could handle. The boneless chicken hit our craving perfectly. The exterior was perfectly crispy. The chili sauce was tangy and sweet. I'm excited to try their gochujang sauce next time. I've only had tteok cooked in sauce before, so I really enjoyed the fried texture on the ones Chicken Lab made also.Based on how fire this meal was, I am crazy excited to come back.
This new Korean chicken place is definitely a place you must visit if you are ever in Baltimore! The service was wonderful, and the quality of the food was amazing- fresh & tasty. I personally recommend the chicken sandwich and the gang jeong :)
