Today was my first time visiting the store after I left Baltimore. Still a chill place with friendly staff and good coffee. This time I got the strawberry rotiboy bread. It reminded me the days when I was an art school student there.
The first thing that might attract you to this shop is the fancy gold leaf window sign. Once you open the door, what will keep you there are the amazing smells and the chill atmosphere. I had an iced vietnamese coffee, a rotiboy and a breakfast bun. My coffee was delicious and perfect for the warm weather. The rotiboy was soft and flaky and had a delicate sweetness to it that I really enjoyed paired with my coffee. The breakfast bun was delicious as well. First off everything smelled amazing! It was filled with eggs, a little bit of peppers and onions and steak. Service was great as well. It was my first time here and the fellow behind the counter gave me the bun suggestions. Will make it a point to visit here whenever I am in the area.
I wish I could give this place zero stars. The atmosphere is quiet which is nice and good for studying. It’s very grunge looking and kind of dirty, though. Their chai latte absolutely abhorrent. It was the nastiest chai i’ve ever had. I don’t think it was chai, more of a brown water. It’s as if the barista made no effort to make it. Even when it came time to receive some service, he and the other employee were just chatting like a customer wasn’t present. Very terrible experience customer service wise and taste wise. 0/10. I won’t ever return and I don’t recommend anyone else to either.
We had the hot cinnamon spice tea which was a fantastic blend of cinnamon, clove and orange peel. We also tried almost all the pastries and every single one of them were perfectly flaky or had just the perfect bite. No jarring flavors, all had a unique taste and texture to it. Totally a must try if you're in the area. Ambience is chill with lofi beats playing in the background with dim lighting, perfect for relaxed conversation and studying.
Henry is a SUPER STAR. They held down the fort alone and was able to keep a smile under their mask. Thank you!
The buns and pastries are phenomenal. You can instantly tell they are made from scratch. The buns are truly mind boggling- how can there be so much flavor in a bun?!! The coffee is outstanding and the vibe is cool. The staff is absolutely wonderful. This place is one of a kind and I cannot recommend it enough!
I came in today (1/25) around 11am to meet a friend for tea. My friend & I went up to the counter to make our tea selection. We both stood at the counter ready to order. Being that it was cold & we constantly have masks on, my nose was running & I needed a tissue. I politely asked the female cashier for the restroom, & instead of directing me she responds "the restroom is only for paying customers." (P.S. Surprise: my friend & I are Black...). I then had to explain to her that I WAS ordering but I just needed a tissue to blow my nose.As a Hopkins grad & an RN at University, I will never, ever, ever patronize this place again! I haven't been treated this rudely in a while. Didn't they go through a similar BS issue at Starbucks!?!.... (followed by sensitivity training).
I had an amazing experience the food is phenomenal! The owner is a great person and makes you feel welcomed. He definitely made a repeat customer out of me! Snickerdoodle cookie is addicting.
Can’t give it more than 3 stars because there were ants on the counter where they left our food/drinks to be picked up. Unfortunate because otherwise Great coffee and pastries (both savory and sweet). We got the tikka roti and the roti boy. Both were excellent. Cool atmosphere with interesting furniture and decorations.
Moved to the neighborhood in July, and have been coming here about once a week since, absolutely love the coffee and the food.I usually don't do this, but I feel the need to say something. The staff up until about 3-4 weeks ago were wonderfully polite. Unfortunately there are two staff members I hadn't seen before, and they are not nice at all. Just very condescending, I was made to feel like I was a burden on them for my two iced lattes last week. I will continue to support the business, but hope the staff can continue to provide the service they were before.
