I sympathize with the problems of attracting and keeping good staff but Sammy's seems to be troubled this year. The waiter did not tell us of the specials, did not bring drinks when requested, did not offer parmesan for the pasta, and did not check in. There is no longer a pre-concert menu. We ordered an appetizer and salad each, nothing else. There were still leftovers (enough of mine to make lunch for two at home). The food was nothing special and there was too much. Still, there's nowhere else to eat before a concert at the Meyerhoff, and we are longtime customers so we keep hoping.

When the restaurant is full it is noisy and the service is slow due to not have enough cook staff or servers. We ate there on Sundays about 6 pm so they may not normally be that busy. The food is excellent and they give you large portion. I recommend this restaurant highly.
