The food is great. the service is improving since they hired another waitress! Yaay!
Second time here and again, a good time. The staff has always been great and Elaine is a definite favorite here. Really enjoyed the Chesapeake Bay burger and the Smith Island cake.
The meals and service were above my expectations. We surely enjoyed the vibes of this restaurant.

We needed to plan a luncheon after a funeral. The place my Dad requested before he passed was booked. Since the wife & I had eaten at the Poplar Inn before we went there. We found it changed to a sports bar. I wasn't going to go in. I decided to read the reviews and one review really stuck. It talked about how the manager Elaine went out of her way to make things happen, that the food & the service was good. We went in. Just as the review said, Elaine took the time to explain everything in detail and worked with us. she was vey flexible. We booked the luncheon and it was great. Our server was great. We got there early but they accomodated us in style. Everyone enjoyed the luncheon. We definitely will be back.
Great restaurant, great food and service! Restaurant is completely seperated from the bar and has 0 noise from the bar/packaged goods area. Fair prices.
I only go to Poplar for the karaoke. I don't mind saying, though, that their barstaff is so efficient that it scares me... They do a wonderful job and the prices are not bad at all!
Haven't had dinner at Popular in many years. We stopped in around 6pm on Saturday. Besides a few dundalk politically motivated anti maskers fools giving us dirty looks. We went in the dining room to find it empty. We where not sure if it was open or not. We started to walk back out when a lady said "did you guys want dinner in the dining room". I said yes. She said go ahead back and a waiter will be with you shortly. We went back in and sat down. Our waiter promptly came with menus. Asked if we would like a drink. At this point I was thinking I might have made a mistake coming there seeing no one was there. I was worried the food wasn't good. Our waiter came back with our drinks and we ordered the stuffed shrimp and New York cut steak. After we received our food, all my worries were gone. Food was amazing. Waiter was awesome. Super impressed. So much to write this book. I'm a professional Chef and it takes a lot to impress me and they did. It was as good or even better from what I always remembered. I will return and bring friends. But some advice to the folks at Popular, marketing is the only challenge you may have. Everything else is on point. Best business wishes and we will see you again soon.

The wait staff was wonderful. The shrimp was amazing- 8 shrimp and the best fries (hot and tasty). My husband thought the mussels and garlic bread was the best he has ever had.
