Although parking was not free, I still consider it easier to find than the rest of Baltimore, MD. This place has a great atmosphere for walking with the family or for couples with plenty of mom-and-pop shops in the area and the food was great! I added a few photos of the scenery around the restaurant in addition to photos specific to Mona's Super Noodle to give people a sense of the atmosphere.
Visited for lunch and ordered the shrimp summer rolls, calamari, yellow curry, and woonsen soup with chicken. We didn't try any pho because I couldn't justify the lack of options for the price, esp when there are so many good Vietnamese restaurants in Bmore.Overall, every plate was decent. Calamari (my fav plate) had a solid crunch, albeit heavier than I was expecting. Summer rolls were fresh and tasty with the dip, but pretty minimally packed compared to ones I've both had and made. Woonsen soup was a solid alternative to American chicken noodle soup. Yellow curry tasted good too. My only gripe was the curry sauce being so thin because you couldn't easily eat it with the rice.In terms of nuance, everything was really straightforward without much complexity in flavour or ingredients. Reminded me of home cooking. For the prices, I'm not sure I'd rush back, but nothing I had here was unpleasant.
I have never gone to eat here without the owner Mona herself being super friendly and making sure we are well taken care of. This is a great business. The food is great too! I only wish that there was more gluten-free options.
This was absolutely the worst service of my life. A group of 5 of us. The waiter forgot to place my order. When everyone else received their food I asked about mine. They said it would be a moment. It never came. When I said something else, an hour later, about not getting my food they plunked a plate of, something in front of me and tried to charge me for it. The rudeness was beyond compare.
Amazing. Absolutely DELICIOUS PHO! Pho? oh… and great service! Girl at front/register was so sweet and hospitable. Will be back 100% !!!
Careful. I usually get RARE beef Pho at Indochine and this was my first time ordering from here. ALMOST everything was amazing....the only problem was the "rare" beef which was sour, overcooked and my cats would not even eat it (they will eat anything). I called and received a very professional apology with a refund for the 2 orders of Pho. Calamari, Chicken Satay, sticky rice were awesome. I will come again, but I will not order any vietnamese specialties. If you're expecting the usual thinly sliced raw beef to add to your steaming PHO, go to Indochine, it's always delicious and fresh.
Server behind bar, where 2 of my friends and I sat, was rude, gave us dirty looks, didn't respond, acted as if we were a bother, put a sign that was hand written right in front of one of my friends, when we asked for something she would chuff and basically throw it down and turn her back to us. I won't dine here again and neither will my friends! On a side note, the Pho was really good!
This is probably the best food I've given three stars for. I've had repeated issues with service while dining in. Waiting for a server to even bring waters over and take an order has been over twenty minutes more than once.The servers seem more interested in chatting with themselves at the bar than checking up on their customers.I have had timely service here before but these issues have also happened on multiple visits. I guess this will be a takeout only shop for me in the future.
We ordered the drunken noodles with beef, the chicken box and yellow Thai curry with chicken spice level 3. Could have gone spicier with the curry but the flavor was excellent, my favorite of the 3 dishes we ordered. The sauce that comes with the extra crispy chicken is so good and the sticky rice helped soak up flavor. Drunken noodles were good but we like our noodles just a tad chewier and less cooked.
