We ate here a couple of times during our stay. Food was always very tasty. Food was served quickly. Very good value for the portions -- I brought food home each time for leftovers! I liked the spices on the chick peas.
All the kabobs are nicely marinated and well cooked. Their in house Naan Bread with green sauce are refreshing appetizers. Nice and clean environment for family. Obviously everything is Halal and each dishes comes with good portion for a person.
The service up front was insanely meh. The guy was super un interested and either didn't hide it or was making a point of showing it. We ordered a meal and he didn't bother telling us to get our drinks, when we asked for the drink he told us to get cans (only two types in fridge) and only after asking for the fountain drinks did he agree and give us a cup. I asked for no fries with my shawarma or drink thinking it'll be cheaper, still paid full price and he didn't point it out. Went back for to go box and the second guy at the counter was waaay better, at least smiled and seemed interested in doing wht he's doing. Girl who delivered food was nice too. Chicken shawarma was definitly worth the high pice. Beef shawarma was great ingredients, but the tender beef chunks were still too big and would fall off the shawarma which makes a (delicous) mess.
The food was so fresh and delicious. Best afghan food we've ever had. They even make their bread fresh and serve it warm.
Delicious food at a fair price. They were accommodating to my dietary needs which was an added bonus! It is a place where you order at a counter and then they bring you your food which is casual but the food is of a quality you would expect at a fancy sit down restaurant. On this occasion there were no tables when we ordered but the staff went out of their way to find us space by the time our food was ready!
Everything we ordered was delicious from the appetizers to the entrees. You could easily make a meal from ordering 3 or so appetizers. I could eat a whole plate of the rice alone. We ordered the pumpkin (tasted like dessert and I loved it), the fried cauliflower (would've preferred it to be more fried but still tasty), the chicken kebab, and kofte kebab. This was my favorite meal on my first trip to Baltimore. Definitely check this place out!
I came here yesterday for the first time with my father. The food was pretty good, very flavorful. We got the Thursday special; the do piazza. The only thing I didn’t like, and this is a personal take, was that no one greeted us when we entered or ordered. We walked up to the counter, and someone appeared but didn’t welcome us; I spoke first, and that was a bit off putting.
Just had their Beef kabob and potato curry over rice, grilled Salmon, and dessert (Afghan ice cream. , outstanding! This was my first time here with my friend. I can't wait to come again. Excellent. Highly recommend it to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.
My cousin who is a picky eater recommended this restaurant and I’m happy she did. It wasn’t busy when we ate there. Spacious restaurant. I ordered the lamb gyro. My meal came out hot and good quality ingredients. The baklava was well made. Buttery and a nice crisp. The samosas were spicy and tasted more flavorful when I ate them cold later in the evening. I would definitely try them again when I’m in the area.
We love Maiwand Grill for what it is. We categorize it as great fast slow food. You order at a counter, but your meal is served on an actual plate with metal utensils. I tend to favor the Veggie Platter.. a combination of 5 different vegetarian dishes with rice and naan. Yummy! Perfect for a good weekday meal before catching a show at the Everyman Theater.
