It was pretty empty when we went. The staff mans both the bar and takes your order and brings to table. They are super hard working and friendly. The food was good and a unique take on Tex Mex. Coming on a visit from Texas, some of their food was better than even back home. The only thing was their local soft drinks were not good at all. Which normally would not be a bad thing but with how salty the chips and queso were, you needed an enjoyable drink to wash it down. The decor seems to want to be as authentic as what was deemed Tex Mex, fun but not accurate. The pinball machines were very cool! Loved it overall

I've been eating at Holy Frijoles for more years than I'd care to mention. Back in the day, it was a must-visit place at least once a month. Last time (this past week) was OK. The menu has changed since the last time I was there, which is something that happens.Admittedly, I was in for lunch, so they didn't have a wait staff to see our table directly. That's fine, but when the barkeep has a line of people ordering drinks and food, that can get cumbersome.I was there with two celiacs and one vegetarian, so our take on the food is filtered through that situation. The platanos were delicious. Nicely fried, with a great dipping crema. The tortilla chips were wildly salty. The salsa that came with the chips (FYI, the chips and salsa there are no longer free), had a strange non-flavor flavor. It was certainly either a different recipe than years past, or a the ingredients are not optimal in May.The black beans and corn, oddly had absolutely no flavor; even the picky, bland-loving 16 year old noted how unflavored the beans were..Just because of the history, I won't write off Holy Frijoles based on this past experience, but it absolutely gives me pause before I decide to stop back in again. Might be that it's just a better place to go at night when bands are playing and pinball leagues are there. I'll have to try that when I'm available.

Not sure what has happened or happened to HF, prodfoundly disturbed at the lack of interest by the folks working behind the bar. They are clearly not bartenders more babysitter of bottles, "water service is at the end of the bar." Would not prepare a cocktail, zero wait staff, sat ourselves, was asked to place chairs" back " to where they were. No chips or salsa service, no napkins, and this ridicously scaled down water stained paper menu. Their former carry out area is cluttered with boxes. I would say rid the bar of these faux bartenders and get back to business when you made delicious food and crafted some of the best margs in Baltimore. Get your selves and inventory together bathe the "restaurant" or whatever it is current and have your people bathe also, sober up get off the sauce as you are embarassing yourselves or just close. I think you should close and reopen AGAIN. Literally sober up everyone "working" there if that is what you call it is an embarrassment.

Very experience!!! It's my first time at the place for the PinBaltimore 2022 event. I had a good time with my friend. The nostalgic of it all took my back of the good ole pinball days.

We, Period Bomb, give Holy Frijoles 3 thumbs up! Love everyone who works here, and they really know how to take care or bands. Some of the best tour food we’ve ever had! Also love the Sour Plop.

Margaritas were awesome. Food was good. Definitely going back. Went around 5:30 and had no problems.

Best margarita on tap you'll have within at least 100 miles. Friendly staff, easy ordering experience, and good, veg friendly fare. Try the fish tacos or drunken carne fauxsada burritos.

A classic Hampden mainstay. Don't miss it if visiting. Great food and good drinks. Service can be, well, short and abrupt. You don't get many smiles or assistance, more like "what do you want". They could work on the service levels -1 star.Pinball and arcade in the back, good fun there.

Came here with a group of friends to celebrate. Didn’t quite expect the bartender to be as callous, inattentive, and arrogant as he was. I tried to order a drink and food (this is a SELF SERVICE “restaurant”!!) but the bartender ignored me and my friend group repeatedly. The bar was not full at all.We took our money across the street, spent around $160 and tipped heavily. Because the service was great. This place should have stayed burned down.

friendly staff, very reasonable prices. food was good.
