Not overly crowed, well decorated, fun menu and drinks. Food was ok, nothing great. We had Salmon and ratatouille which was just ok, Gnocchi (which was very good) and a few drinks
I checked the dinner menu online several times before making the reservation as I am pescetarian and have a severe allergy to pork. There were a number of very appealing seafood dishes on the menu, so I went ahead and made a reservation. We arrived for our meal and found that the menu was completely different from the one posted online. That plus the fact that they were out of two of the dishes I could eat left me with almost no choices. I decided to chance the gnocchi with corn and mushrooms and added shrimp even though the charge for the seafood (an additional $20!) seemed high and raised the dish's price to $43. Imagine my surprise when my plate appeared with only three shrimp on it! The corn was pureed, which amped up its natural sweetness to the point where it was unbearably cloying - I couldn't even taste the mushrooms or the microgreens in the dish - and there was no garlic or other seasoning to add complexity; it was basically baby food. The grilled shrimp were cooked well, but again, completely unseasoned. The gnocchi were mushy, just a tad former than mashed potatoes. My husband said his chicken, served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and bacon, was okay, but there was so much bacon in it that it overpowered the other flavors. I ended up sending most of my meal back because it tasted so bad and the manager was nice enough to comp it, but our bill for one entree and a bottle of good (not outstanding) wine was still around $100. If you want good French bistro fare in Baltimore, go to Petit Louis instead.
The food was great! The server was down to earth. And the drinks were yummy!
Great food and atmosphere right in the heart of Fells Point.
Great food and service. Server made some helpful food and drink recommendations. This was even with my dietary restrictions.
Food was delicious!
Excellent food. Wonderful craft cocktail.
Went to DDG for the second time yesterday evening. Started with Bread Service (very good), Escargot (pretty okay), and a few of the charcuterie items (very good). We decided we want to split an entree and ordered the steak frites with foie gras added on top. The bartender suggested medium rare and that is generally how I request my steaks. The steak came out nicely presented but we immediately realized it was over cooked. It was sliced into about 8 pieces and the outer two on each side were basically well done with no visible pink and the very center had barely any visible pink as well, cooked as a medium well essentially. I am very rare to send back a food item but I wasnât interested in forcing down a $35 steak (with a $24 foie gras add on). We alerted the bartender right away and she politely took the dish back. This is where things got weird. The manager walks over, and with a very weird attitude âyeah, I just want to let you guys know I put it in the order rare this time.â I almost looked at him confused, because I was so taken aback by his tone and what he said. He repeated himself and said âit was pretty close but donât worry Iâll take care of itâ referring to the doneness being close to the medium rare (was VERY far off). I was honestly dumbfounded with his attitude, and replied it was basically well done on the edges and medium well at best. At that point he walked away. We were served another steak shortly after (perfect medium rare this time) but then the manager comes back to check on us and has the same pompous attitude asking if it was okay this time. I said it was a perfect medium rare and he walked away. Itâs so disappointing because that weird, uncalled interaction ruined the whole visit it for my partner and I. We didnât want nor need the steak comped, we had just wanted it correctly cooked. The bartender was excellent, the 6 drinks we had between us were great, the whole place has a very nice vibe, minus the manager. We probably wonât be back.
The food is average but I do you have a good bar drinks.
Really great food and service, but something needs to be done about the air conditioning.
