The experience all together I feel was 2 stars. It was not terrible but it wasn't great. The food was okay/good but was not great. The floor was extremely sticky as soon as we walked in, and I felt like I was sticking to it walking to our table. Even though the food came out quick it was kind of bland. We ordered the crispy brussells sprouts, 3-egg scrambled w/ home fries, and the egg & cheddar bagel w/ home fries. The Brussels sprouts were crispy but also had a burnt taste. The eggs were bland but the home fries were good though. I had high hopes because I really liked the food choices and the ambiance; this is what originally brought me in (vegan options, good food options that are healthy). The restaurant itself is beautiful (beautiful building, artwork, and great backstory about Langston Hughes). My drink (The Fresh Start) was very good and creative. The lack of service is what added to bringing the rating down. Yes, it was busy (not packed but busy) and our server was nice, but we weren't checked on and we had to find our waiter to check out. We weren't even able to grab another waiter to get our waiter's attention to put it in perspective. We waited for the waiter to come back to at least order another drink or coffee but we waited around so long that we decided to get drinks elsewhere. As soon as we paid, the busboy was waiting with his cleaning tub for us to get up. Which we weren't going to sit around and hang out, but it makes you feel more rushed to hurry up and get out. These are easy fixes that I hope can be accounted for because it would make the experience so much better.
Finally made it out to this location after it being on my want to go list for a while. There was a 25 minute wait, but we were able to be accommodated at the bar. I loved the various non-alcoholic options and really enjoyed the presentation put into the tea. I did not feel left out of service for choosing not to drink and the lovely bartender frequently checked on everyone seated. I also enjoyed the vegan chickn nuggets, but beware, there is a very healthy spice level. Finally, I absolutely LOVED the dim lighting, decor and the manager’s music playlist. I will gladly choose this place to spend a weekend evening and can’t wait to try out breakfast.
Pros: The staff all have great customer service. Food is prepared quickly, and the food is reasonably priced with good portions.Cons: The food is not good. I have eaten at a few of the DC locations and this location a few times. The preparation of the food here is just lackluster. I ordered the cauliflower bites and firecracker shrimp. The cauliflower bites are battered in the thickest, most flavorless batter I ever tasted. Thinning out the batter and adding a little salt and pepper would do wonders for this dish. It comes with an aioli of sorts and without this sauce, this dish would be inedible. The sauce should complement the dish; not save it. The chef took some "liberties" when cooking the firecracker shrimp that did not pay off. The shrimp are fried in a cornmeal/flour batter and then drenched, and I mean drenched, in hot sauce. The batter was no match for this slopping of sauce and by the time it got to me, it was a mushy mess. Nasty work. A potato or corn starch batter (basically tempura) would give it more of the crunch I desired. This dish is a dud for a dish with firecracker in the title. Once again, the chef relied heavily on the sauce to save this dish.I appreciate the staff's hard work to fulfill orders in short order all with great customer service but give the chef an extra minute, or five, to grab the spices and thin out the batter.
Do not go here if you want a nice, decent meal.I’ve been to several of their DC locations and this was far below their normal standard. There seems to be a lack of training across the board as everything is very slow and underwhelming. We received the automated text that our table was read and headed back to the front, where we waited for about five min until the hostess came back.It took 35 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering, and it was not delivered together. There was a considerable gap between the first person and the last person getting their dish. The food quality is not worth the price; an average Applebees or Chilis would be comprable. I ordered a medium burger and it was well-done and completely underwhelming. Everyone else at my table was also disappointed with their orders, which had several errors (e.g., wrong side dish). Since the food took so long to come out initially, we didn’t bother pointing out the errors to our server.Lastly, our server said that they were not expecting the “rush” but half of the tables in the resultant were empty.
My cousin and I couldn’t visit another spot, so we chose this location (Baltimore) and were pleasantly impressed with the food, atmosphere and decor. The prices are reasonable, the portions are more than enough and yes it was hot and delicious.
I’m glad we finally have a BBP In Baltimore. It was pretty busy but our waitress was on top of things and I’m our food came out fast (faster than our drinks). All in all it was a great experience.
I wanted to love this place. It's...OK. I have been 4 times now since they opened a Baltimore location and here is my take:The service is a little slow (not a lot slow just a little, still within the range you would expect from a restaurant but maybe one that is a little more crowded than this one had been on my visits). The prices are around what you would expect if the food was an 8 but the food is more like a 7—again not unreasonable or anything but like a notch more pricey than it feels like the (perfectly fine) food quality merits.I (a trans woman) was there with a friend today and we were constantly "You guys"ed. It was very clearly done in good faith (the server was very sweet and almost certainly didn't mean it in a gendered way) but I am at a stage where I kinda hate being greeted that way and I know that is a common feeling among trans women. Given that BB&P explicitly advertised itself as queer friendly, I would have hoped that server training included warning servers against that greeting. It is a small thing (small enough that it makes you feel like the a**hole if you say anything about it I know) but it did cast a little cloud over my experience today.I likely will go back but it isn't going to be my first second or third choice for dining or drinks in my area.
All good: customer service from entire staff. Manager visits the tables to make sure you're satisfied! Bathrooms are personal, nice & clean!! The ambiance & art throughout the restaurant is warming! Oh the food was tasty & presentation topped it off! Poetry is available. I must return.
The atmosphere at Busboys was very nice, chic, fun, and sophisticated! The food was good. The menu has alot of options! The wait was not long at on a football Sunday. Service was wonderful and food came out in a timely manner. My only tiny gripe is that I asked for an additional meat to go with my eggs and didnt receive it. The server stated she would take it off the bill instead of offering to go and get the meat. Odd but not a big deal. I will definitely return to the establishment.
This place was objectively terrible, save your money.First off, the drinks are just sugar. There is literally no flavor outside of sweetness in all of the drinks. Which worries me, because I know they're using rail alcohols in their drinks. So to be able to mask those flavors means they use a lot of sugar or barely any alcohol. Either way for 10+ dollars a pop for cocktails, that's terrible.Secondly, the food was abysmal. No good, no flavor, just bland. I got a salad, and I made the simple request for an addition of mangos (which they had in another salad on their menu) and they couldn't do that. Fine, I mean kind of weird to not be able to adjust, but fine. But then when it came out, I literally had the stems of Romaine lettuce as my base and it tasted not fresh. The ONLY reason this wasn't a 1 star review is because the nachos were great. Other than that, this place was 2 thumbs DOWN.
