Bertha's was ok. I had the fried chicken, macaroni cheese and collard greens. The collards greens were very salty. They tasted like glory greens out of the can, and the Mac/Cheese wasn't good at all. The fried chicken was fried to perfection. Nice and crunchy. The young lady who waited on me was very polite.
One of my favorite soul food spots in the city. Catfish platter is affordable and stacked with two large pieces of fish and large sides. Fish was fried to perfection, my toddler doesn’t eat most fish, only mahi-mahi.. but he tore that catfish up okay. If he eats anything you know it’s good because he is picky picky.Banana Pudding is always sold out. Catch it if you can.I’ve eaten here so many times.. basically everything on the menu is great!
As a native Chicagoan, I’ve been really disappointed with the food of Baltimore that’s not seafood. Bertha’s is amazing! Ordered online, received my food hot, the portions are generous, and finally! it tastes extremely good! They have my business.
I have been hearing about Bertha’s for more than a month. The person decided to treat me to the lamb chop meal w/ mac n cheese and candied yams. I felt it was a bit pricey for 4 lamb chops, but since I wasn’t paying, I was more than willing to try. I do not eat out much, but when I have 1 of those days that I don’t feel like cooking, I will be going to Bertha’s and will pay the price! I never could’ve dreamed the candied yams would be as sweet as I like. When I saw the Mac n cheese, I never thought it would taste as good as it did, and the lamb chops were very tender. I’m not a big bread eater, but I did take two bites of the cornbread and it was tasty. It’s clear that I would recommend your business and hope to order again in the near future.May you continue to thrive in your business, God Bless!
Everything was delicious! First time there I ordered online it was easy! I got the lunch special turkey wings over yellow rice with Mac and cheese, yams and potatoe salad I also got the triple mixed house made drinks! I'm definitely coming back!
My job treated us and I got catfish, greens with mac&cheese ?. It was delicious. All my coworkers enjoyed their food as well. It was about 20 of us. Its hard to please everyone but everyone appeared to really enjoy the food. I can't wait to treat my husband. Thx again
I will never eat here again. I am all for supporting black own businesses but not this one. The girl at the front is rude and she mess our order up. Our food was sitting waiting there for a while before she gave it to us. Matter of fact she wasn’t there the owner gave it to us. He was great but she wasn’t. Then we get home our order was wrong. My boyfriend called up there to tell them and the same girl had a attitude. Overall food was not bad but service was terrible.
It's ok. I was a bit disappointed and didn't eat much of my food at all. I sat in and ordered a drink but there was no bartender so some random assistant made me something like a drink that was a little costly. I watched same person make a great drink for the guy that was next to me. Overall it's the type of food you want but don't get your hopes up too high for it. It's regular tasting at best, definitely nothing to rave about and a little over priced for the quality/flavors offered. I wish these businesses would be more consistent and organized better. Long wait, very hectic experience and only one person answering the phone and taking orders. There was plenty of people looking like staff around but no one helped the cashier get orders, so the wait was extremely long as you watched one person multi-task the phone orders and walk-in service.
This was my very first time coming to this restaurant after passing it quite often while traveling on Bel-Air Road.To start, the wait was rather long after placing and paying for the order, it took approximately 45 minutes to receive the food, for something that shouldn't have taken that long, especially when I noticed other patrons placed order after me, and received their food before me.I love soul food, raised on it, and cook it quite often, but considering the cost of the food from this restaurant, sad to state this, but in my opinion, the meal/food was subpar and very disappointing! I would pretty much equate the meals that I purchased this previous Sunday as disappointing and on level with regular carryout quality food.I will summarize my issues with the meals/food that I purchased from this restaurant:1) Collard Greens - Salty2) Cabbage - Overly salty, over cooked, and the addition of shredded carrots did nothing to enhance the disk.3) Sweet Potatoes - decent, they actually helped to offset the saltiness of the greens and cabbage4) Potato Salad - decent5) Macaroni & Cheese - decent6) Seafood Platter - Too expensive for the amount of food and quality.a) Fried Shrimp - severely over cookedb) Crab cakes - Unappetizing mixture of backfin with a couple of pieces of lump crab meat, and definitely didn't need any Old Bay seasoningc) Fried Whiting - was palatable, just needed a little more seasoning7) Turkey Wing dinner - Portions don't justify the cost. Just two turkey wing flats for $15. I would have expected at least four.8) Chicken Wing platter - decent9) Cornbread - That was the biggest bright spot with any of the food. That cornbread was delicious, as much, I might consider specifically going there to purchase the cornbread.
I can go months without going here although I try not to and the food is just absolutely amazing every time. I am a very picky pescatarian who always makes special orders. They get my order right every time and they have so many filling options that fit well within my diet as well as budget. I highly doubt you'll have room for dessert as their portions are a great size. Good service, food is worth the wait. Exceptional!!
