Definitely a unique spin on soul food, I lucked up finding this place when my regular Sunday breakfast spot was closed. I ate the shrimp and grits and it was pretty tasty. Nice people working and cooking in there.
I really like this restaurant. The food and service is amazing. They will quickly get your order and make your food. The food is also delicious. The flatbreads are a necessity and I got shrimp and grits to eat which were very filling and very exquisite. Overall this is an amazing restaurant and a great place to bring anyone from children to distant relatives.
This was my first time at Soul. They only have dine in at the bar due to lack of help because of covid. Once they get more servers and kitchen help they'll open the dining room again. The bartender was friendly. He showed me different dishes, explained how everything was made in house. The food was good and presented well. The Mac and Cheese is to die for! Soul sounds like it would be amazing to go at summer time. The bartender said they have outdoor seating and music in the summer months. Next time I'm back in the Annapolis area I will stop in again.
I had real high hopes for this place based on reviews I read but, my food was terrible. The red beans and rice with the andouille sausage was bland. They need to remove the word andouille sausage because essentially I received only a couple of diced pieces which is what I was looking forward to. I don’t know why this place received high reviews or it must have been before the pandemic or a different chef. I wouldn’t recommend this one place. It would be just a waste of money
Had dinner this evening for the first time at Soul. Tall gentleman, who I believe was the chef quickly seated us. Our server was the best ever!!…she explained menu items, was very friendly and gracious. The food was very delicious and the price for value was great! The Hot Chicken appetizer was tender and perfectly seasoned. Everyone loved the fried tomatoes and hush puppies. We really enjoyed our entrees of gumbo, mac n cheese bar, and shrimp with grits. We ordered beignets for dessert which were toasty and the perfect way to end the meal! We will definitely return to this understated gem in Annapolis!
I’m fairly certain I’ve tried nearly everything on their menu - at least twice! My favorite is, by far their gumbo. It has a kick to it, but even my four year old loves it. If you have the time and the weather is nice, stop by for dinner and request patio seating. You won’t be disappointed. ?
I recently went to Soul for the first time! We were a party of 15 and the staff there were very accommodating to us. The food was really good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Prices were very reasonable! I will go there again.
Found Soul accidentally and what a find! The bartender made the most delicious old fashion, our service was great and the food amazing!!!! We sat at the bar, but seating outside on the patio would have been wonderful too!I would highly recommend going to Soul! You will not be disappointed!I cannot wait to come back!
Excellent scenery and ambiance the place has a nice staff. The music reminded me of what my mother use to play when she cooked or cleaned on the weekends when growing up. But to be honest the food taste soul-LESS, I’ll give it a half star if I could I am very disappointed. I am from the south and been all over the south so I’m very skeptical on places that considers them selves down south cooking or southern cuisine. I live in California now and was hoping I would have one last meal that would remind me of home. Well this wasn’t it at all and I wouldn’t recommend the place unless it was for drinks. Nice atmosphere and I mean how can you mess up drinks. This isn’t soul food or southern cooking at all and now that I been living in California for 2 years now and I would say this is California idea of soul food. The dish is very and I do mean very small and has nothing to do with the south at all. I repeat this is not soul food. Needless to say very disappointed ???‼️. Great people though.
Nice little place. It was my birthday and I was hoping chicken and waffles was served all day. The food was great and so was the service. Recommend for a night out. I would compare the atmosphere to Lemongrass on West street
