We drove by this on the way to the Portland Head Lighthouse and were intrigued. We had to stop on the way back. Once we got in we noticed two things - first, it was a market and no where to sit. Not a problem. Second, it was filled with locals. That's what we were looking for. We order our amazing sandwiches and headed Bug Light park. Wow. These were great and a lot for your money.
Amazing source of the best in single malts whiskeys and tequila for miles. Also amazing cooked dinners to take home, heavily Italian menu but enough meat and potatoes to keep everyone happy.
I grew up on Angell Avenue and have been going to DiPietros since I was young. Italian sandwiches were always good!!
Very busy and crowded but its because they are so good!! Staff ran smoothly as we all attempted to make sense of a line up the aisles of the store.
Needs to have updates to the building. Italians were great.

Wow. The steak, onion, pepper, and mushroom sandwich was great. Much more then I expected. They also had a great selection of items to choose from. The guy that made our sandwiches asked how they were after we finished them in the parking lot. We obviously said great. But messy. They definitely don't skimp on the fillings.
I think this style of “Italian” is mostly unique to Maine. This particular sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had - better than Amato’s.

Good pizza, amazing italian sandwiches. Moved to CT recently but couldn't resist picking up an Italian from DiPietros when I was back in town. Great liquor and wine selection as well considering the size of the store. Highly recommend!
