Yummy as usual great service tonight
Very nice waiter extremely fast on food delivery would definitely recommend
The Cracker Barrel Old Country is a wonderful restaurant that offers guests superbly tasty decent sized meals at very reasonable prices!!!In May of 2022, I brought and treated myself and my wife for dinner at the Cracker Barrel, specifically the branch located in South Portland, Maine. The staff at Cracker Barrel warmly welcomed us in upon our entry, and our server, Terry H. treated us with great kindness and did a great job on taking our orders and explaining the menu options. Both my wife and I highly enjoyed our meals, which included a steak based entree for my wife and maple bacon chicken meal for myself. We found our meal to be well cooked, perfectly seasoned and definitely delicious!!!When visiting Portland Maine, my wife and I definitely recommend that you visit and dine at the Cracker Barrel restaurant!!!
Food was good. The hostess and servers were doing their best to get people seated, and they tried to remain pleasant when people became irritated. People still aren't realizing that staffing shortages are a big issue since Covid. My friend and I let them know that we understood they were doing the best they could. They were swamped with take out orders as well!
Yesterday I went to this Cracker Barrel location for lunch-they were lots of people waiting to be seated, even though most of the dining room was empty. I was told it would be a 30 minute wait-I put my name on the list but left after 40 minutes--thinking it was a one off, I tried to eat there again this morning, this time--6 CARS in the lot-waiting area empty-dining room almost completely empty-and guess what-"it will be a 10 minute wait"....I left-I regularly eat at Cracker Barrels all across the country-this one is evidently the worse run store in their entire system.....
The food good. The wait staff was another matter. We had a waiter and he wasn't pleasant at all. Almost like we were a burden to him. He only came by once to see how every was. He seemed very short with us. If he was having a bad day or night for that matter he shouldn't take it to work with him. And the hostess was less than be desired. It was just a unpleasant dinner there. I'm sorry to say but we won't be back to this one restaurant in Portland. Love the store part if it and the historical things that they have in the restaurant.
I came here to have sirloin steak, a baked potato, broccoli, corn, buttermilk biscuits, and lowfat milk for lunch. I got all this, and loved it. While waiting, I played the IQ game with the pegs, and after my meal, looked for one that I could buy. There were none, but that doesn't matter. The waitress was friendly and courteous, and I would come again. Maybe then I'll order a lighter meal so that I can have their fudge Coca Cola cake for dessert.
Been here a few times, when friends have come to visit me in Maine I have brought them here. One of those friends gave me a digital gift certificate for Xmas so I finally decided to use it. I don't care how "decent" your food is if the very first person I speak with at the hostess stand is straight up RUDE. Only wanted to order a simple family meal. Ooof! Sorry I interrupted whatever it was you were doing at 2 pm on a Monday but I've never seen someone try so hard to make me wanna leave. Yeah , you got overly friendly at the end but after you fouled up everyone's else's moods, you can shove that chicken lady!!
I am a huge fan of Cracker Barrel, truly am. So it pains me to say how consistently disappointed I have been at this location. I know they must be trying their best but after a 40 min wait for a table at 10am on a Wednesday...I just expected something else I guess. There was a mix up in the kitchen (new staff) and we got charged for a meal that we didn't originally order, and it was all around confusing. The food also took an extremely long time to come out, but again, I wouldn't mind the wait as long as the food was decent. Unfortunately a lot of it was dry with not much flavor. My daughter's food was probably the best of everything. Sad to leave this review. I hope they can get it together soon.
Very friendly place. The fried chicken is great and we love the house salad...bacon ?. They have good old fashioned sodas. It's usually fairly busy but haven't had to wait. The store attached is full of fun stuff too.
