We family of (4) adults were hoping for a good alternative to a typical Portland Lobster/Seafood dining experience and what we got was a nightmare waste of time. The wait for a table wasn't long even with a reservation, but after we ordered and received our drinks and appetizers promptly, the wait for our Sushi took 90 minutes. During this 90 minute wait our waitress did not come by to apologize until we said something to her after 60 minutes. The manager never came by our table nor did he offer any explanation/apology when I went to him. Once the fresh good tasting Sushi did finally arrive the food itself was an afterthought, we paid, still gave our waitress a generous tip and left thinking we should have spent our time and $$$ at the Portland Pier Restaurants.
Delicious food and great service! Yosaku has a long list of sashimi, nigiri, and sushi roll options, in addition to homemade soba and udon plates. We got two sushi rolls each and they were so fresh; I also loved that their special rolls that night featured Maine tuna! Definitely try an appetizer--the Gyoza was excellent. I highly recommend sitting on their patio; they have a nice fountain and garden that is a lovely oasis in the city. I will definitely visit again and look forward to trying the homemade soba!
Hidden gem in Portland. Glad we ate here. We ordered dinner plates few other things and everything was good.
We spent almost 3 hours in the restaurant, most of the time spent waiting for the food. It was a Thursday night so I understand them being busy and we were willing to wait. I had brought green tea with me in a to go cup and they made me throw it away, despite us having to wait so long. The sushi was extremely average, nothing worth $80 plus tip. We had Udon Tempura noodles which were good, although a bit too salty. We also ordered godzilla roll, new york yankees roll and yosaku roll. My advice is don't get sushi, stick to the other dishes.
This is more expensive than the average sushi shop, but worth every cent. This may have been the best sushi and shirashi we ever tasted outside Japan. And I’ve had many. Just awesome. Really impressed. Don’t hesitate!
Everyone from my work is always eating here for lunch, so of course I had to try it. I ordered the spicy tuna and the salmon with avocado. The tuna color was so beautiful and it tasted amazing with some soy sauce! I also loved the flavor of the salmon with the avocado! The tuna as not too spicy, but the perfect level for me. I was amazed at the great prices of the lunch specials! This was such a treat and I savored every single bite! I will definitely be returning here soon for a filling lunch. I am excited to try more of their menu as well!
One of the best sushi restaurants in town. The staff is really great and they have excellent children's meals.
Amazing cocktails, great service, incredibly fast, and the best sushi I’ve ever had. The pork dumplings and veggie tempera were also out of this world. Can’t recommend enough!
Went in on a Wednesday night, was meeting up with an old friend from high school and Yosaku was the was perfect spot. The dining area was nice and clean, and we got seated in the back. The atmosphere was perfect and we didn’t feel rushed at all. As we chatted and forgot to look at the menu, the wait staff gave us space and allowed us to take our time. The presentation was beautiful, we ordered several different rolls to get a good mix of flavors. The Yosaku’s namesake is definitely one of my favorite, and the Titanic was awesome!! I will definitely be back again!!
Amazing sushi and authentic Japanese food. My husband took me here for my birthday and it was the best sushi I had in a while. The service was phenomenal and when my husband mentioned it was my birthday they have us complimentary mochi for dessert and a t-shirt to take home.
