Excellent place. My wife and I ordered Korean Cheese Dogs, Curry Fried Chicken, and Small Poutine Fries to split and the owner gave us a dessert for free on top of it. Super nice guy and love the building it is in. I wish we were here longer so we could have tried the other restaurants in the public building.
The Frying Dutchman is so consistently good! They always have exciting specials and the menu staples are delicious! It’s an affordable meal and ingredients are always fresh. The calamari and Korean cheese corn dogs are amazing, as are the from scratch desserts (esp. the chocoflan). Fun atmosphere in the Public Market Building too!
I must say I’m really thankful to work so close to TFD because they are my favorite tapas places around. Leon makes some of the most delicious global street tapas I’ve ever had! It’s not only fried foods either, they also have yummy drinks like horchata and dalgona coffee. They make their own ice cream and desserts too! With different monthly flavors and fun themes. So far the chrysanthemum flavors have been my favorite and the drag brunch they hosted for Pride was so fun! If you are in the mood to eat a lot of food and you’re not sure what you want, The Frying Dutchman is the place to go for a variety of treats! 10/10 recommend.
Got the eggs florentine fries and the Korean cheese corndog. Both super delicious! The fries and the corndog were perfectly crispy and the toppings on both were yummy.Even though the portions are very generous for the price, do not skip on dessert! We split a choco strawberry flan cake slice, which had a perfectly balanced level of sweetness. I would absolutely recommend trying this place for a great lunch or brunch of street food!
The Frying Dutchman is a delicious spot for quick bite when you're in downtown Portland! Everything was very affordable for such an artisanal menu. We got the fried calamari, korean corn dog, and the chocolate flan for dessert. I can't wait to go back for more!
Everything is AMAZING! My absolute favorite is the Bitterballen! They have so many different options from fries, calamari, corn dogs & more! Definitely check them out if you are in the area!!

Loved the Frying Dutchman, arrrrrrrh!!!!! Ha! They’re on the second floor of the Public Market. The gentleman operating the location is very kind. We assumed he is also the location owner. We had their Classic with Garlic Mayo, Curry Ketchup, and Gochujang Mayo, and Chopped Onions. Yum! The gentleman also kindly made me a hot coffee that was great. It was a small to-go cup but it was packed with flavor for a little guy. I felt plenty buzzing after drinking it. When you’re in the area, enjoy some items from all the vendors. They all have a lot to offer. I plan on trying the Jamaican stall, and the Pho stall next! Enjoy!

This is now my go-to place in Portland for a treat. I mean... fries make any day better! The Kalamata mayo is my favorite dipping option, and whatever the special on the secret menu is (which you can only find out about if you follow them on Instagram.) The vibe of the space is so creative and the owners are awesome to chat with. Also, the olibollen are heaven in fried dough form, definitely try those!
