We didn’t eat here, as we had already eaten a late lunch, but we did grab a couple drinks on the patio while waiting for the ferry. We spent nearly an hour, in the sunshine, being waited on by a completely courteous, sweet waitress. She didn’t mind that we didn’t eat, that we just came in for drinks. The poor reviews almost stopped us from coming here, but luckily, this was the only place open when we were looking for a spot to sit down. I’m so glad we came in after all! We walked in with a smile on our faces and enjoyed the charm of the little place it. Our enthusiasm was met with the same niceties. I am a firm believer that you get what you give. So give this place a chance!

The only game in town! Cockeyed Gull was the only restaurant open on a Saturday night when we were staying on the island during the off-season. It was the last restaurant on our list because their web presence was very discouraging. We ordered take out, and were pleasantly surprised to find that the food was quite good. Thanks for being open, I guess?

I am from Illinois. East Coast has always been in my heart. I made the trip and I was in AAAWWWW of the Cockeyed Gull... atmosphere, people, food, laid back and so welcoming. I plan on making another trip out to Maine in the next year and I am taking my mother! She will absolutely love it. Thank you for the experience 5 stars easily!

Got take out on a Friday night because the dining room was full. We unfortunately found it both underwhelming and overpriced. The house salad was essentially romaine lettuce for $12. The fried shrimp were okay, fries were obviously frozen.

We last came here 5 years ago and found it much improved since then. We had the duck and salmon and both were excellent. The asparagus was cooked perfectly which is normally wrecked by overcooking. The inside seating had a comfortable warm feeling with fresh flowers on the table. There are only a few tables so reservations would be recommended.

We stopped for drinks and apps on the deck before taking the ferry back to Portland. The tossed salad was a disappointment -- a medium-sized salad with icebeg lettuce and large pieces of vegetables (red onion, peppers) that should have been cut more or diced -- and it wasn't worth $12.00. The view was the thing. Good service, though. The interior is small but inviting, with a tiny bar in the corner by the entryway.

Little pricey for what you get but I expected that since it is an island and food probably has to be ferried in. Casual place. Waitresses were nice. Patio has nice view over the water.

Didn't really know about this place had I, we would have saved our appetite! We were out on the island for a day and had cocktails before we sailed back to Portland... The food looks absolutely spectacular and smelled amazing... Atmosphere was perfect as was the wait staff. We will definitely go for dinner on the next trip!

This place was recommended by a local. We had higher expectations, but disappointed. Service is very slow and they didn’t seem to care about the delay. The food was ok. Salmon wasabi dish ordered by SO was good. I ordered chicken Marsala and chicken was over cooked. Pricey, but that is expected for dining at restaurants in island.

Loved the special of the day - blackened salmon. Great views if you choose to sit outside.
