A great find and place for authentic English fish n chips with many other choices . Lovely back area to sit and we enjoyed every delicious bite ! A must go for fresh seafood and great service

The atmosphere was pleasant and the people were nice. Food came quickly but the lobster roll was tasteless and the “award winning” clam chowder was just ok; not to mention the limp fried pickles and average tarter sauce. On the bright side the burger and trout were excellent.

Went here with the family based on trip advisor reviews and it was pretty good, a hole in the wall kind of place but seafood was good, not to expensive. Better to eat out on the patio out back because the area inside is like an oven

AWESOME...ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! We are from Michigan and have been vacationing in Maine every summer for 17 years and can actually day this was so good! Great product and great prices! This is definitely the place we will stop every year! The chowder was probably the best we have had in Maine EVER! The whole belly clams and scallops were fried to perfection! A MUST STOP!!!! ❤Please tell Susan...Don't change anything!....We LOVE IT just the way it is!!!

Don't miss out! This unassuming fish-and-chip joint has fresh, delicious seafood (they'll even fry your catch for $5!!!) at reasonable prices and is literally swimming in accolades. Try the crab cakes as a side - they actually taste like crab.

It’s a drive west out of downtown on Forest Avenue to get to Susans’ Fish-n-Chips nestled on the side of the road. Walking into the restaurant brings back reminiscences of the 1950s New England’s seafood shanties, with an open kitchen behind the order counter, facing a well worn dining area where picnic-style tables are arranged for pandemic times. In addition, Susan’s offers outdoor seating at picnic tables out back. If it’s fried seafood in generous portions at reasonable prices you’re looking for, Susan’s is an alternative to places downtown. Yet, this review is a bit ambivalent. This is because the we found that the fish in the fish-and-chips was perfectly cooked, succulent and flaky. Similarly, the generous portion of lobster in their lobster roll was cooked extremely well. On the other hand, the fries were a bit undercooked and, in our opinion, could have been crisper on the outside, because the flavor on the inside was spot on. We substituted onion rings for an order of fries and found the onion, itself, to be sweet and flavorful. The coating, though, was heavy and dense, without the seasoning that it needed. As for the coleslaw, a typical New England recipe that was vinegar based and acceptable. Susans’ Fish-n-Chips was recommended to us by a local who has lived in Portland for decades. We’ve tried it once; I don’t anticipate that we will return, though, in the future when we are back in town.

To much to fit in a post. But hands down the best seafood I've ever had. The portions are to much to finish. The staff goes over and above. But the best part is the whole vibe. The place just says seafood when you walk in the place !!!? ? ? also they have the best cheeseburgers and grilled hit dogs you just can't go wrong ?

I love Susan's Fish-n-Chips! They are so nice and the food is delicious! I love that they have been fixing up the dining room. How can you beat the deal for two fish sandwiches on Tuesdays? You can't!

Best seafood away from the pier. I had fried scallops and clam strips. My family had crab cakes, sprats, fish and chips. It was all perfectly cooked and surved with a smile.Couldn't be happier. Food coma ahoy!

This is truly a hidden gem. It is in the same lot as an auto body shop, very hard to see from the road. It looks run down, but looks are definitely deceiving. Monday and Tuesday they have fish sandwiches 2 for 3.00. 3 dollars for a fresh sandwich fried to perfection can't be beat. Their regular menu is decently priced as well. They are friendly there and the food is delicious. Seek out this little hidden gem if in the area.
