Most flavorful and elegant fish dishes we have ever tasted on any coast - highly recommend the Halibut. High end fish camp vibe right in the pier within short walk of most downtown hotels.

Last night in Portland, Maine, my wife and I agreed we experienced the finest meal of our lives at “Scales”. The food demanded you slow down to enjoy each bite, from the first oyster shucked in front of us with incredible care and without pretense, through the buttery steamers, onto the cod and scallops entrees; finished off with a blueberry and lemon clafoutis and glass of 10yr tawny port. Try to reserve a seat at the bar!

Excellent food, excellent service. We prefer sitting “outside” on the patio, noise level much much better. Consistently excels.

My daughter and I had the most amazing meal at Scales, on our vacation from Illinois. The food was amazing, the view from our outdoor table was beautiful, and our server, Charlotte, was awesome.

Service and food excellent. Noisy so I would recommend going with no more than 4 people because it would be tough to talk with a larger table. We were inside; outside would be different.

Such a great experience! We felt Scales is the best of the “family trio”. Wowed by the set up -you can see the fresh fish waiting to be prepared. After checking in for our 4:30 reservation we were able to witness a crew of blue servers arrive and assemble all fresh faced and smiling ready to greet the diners. The patio seating was perfect. The food was spectacular -don’t pass up the scallops! Clam chowder and octopus did not disappoint. Even though we were full room was found for house made frappe and frozen custard. Our server Duncan was very knowledgeable and any team member who brought drinks or food were professional and friendly. You can tell they are all well trained and love their place of work. Cannot wait to return. A gem.

We enjoyed our visit. The food was great. They had an oyster guy there that was the oyster version of a wine sommelier.
