I frequent Portland monthly, and try to eat my way through all the cuisine. I’ve been curious about this place since it popped up recently.I went in for lunch and of course ordered tacos. Immediately I was told pulled pork were gone (it was only 12:04, I’m confused) . I got the Carne Asada lunch special. 2 tacos, 1 side and chips and salsa for $12.99The tacos were not bad. Very simple.. I make just as good ones at home. The rice was skimpy and kind of pointless. The chips were chips. Not bad. It’s not that service oriented, but the girl who took my order was pleasant. I couldn’t find napkins, or utensils, and they just drop off the dish with nothing, so basically need to ask them for it, and then are kinda made to feel your a pest in doing so. (This was via the guy behind the grill or flattop.) it wasn’t busy at all.I considered getting a margarita but they were outrageously priced. All more expensive than the food. I know that booze is a moneymaker, but that kind of markup in a very casual place where you order from a counter and sit down didn’t make sense. So I decided to save my money. I’d like to think this place will work out the kinks, but I don’t see it. The branding is on point, and you think that they know what they’re doing. But alas…glad I got to check it out, but wouldn’t go back. Much much better food in town than this.
I visited for the first time a few months ago, and I was impressed. From the unique decor that pulls your eyes around the room, to the "hole in the wall" feel, this was definitely a place I'll go to again. Food is very good (as expected for a small shop like this) but for me, the key is the customer service. Although they have a slim crew on (due to winter I'm guessing) they are excellent. They were approachable and opportunistic to help me find something I'll love. They also made mention that they like to experiment with recipes and see what customers like so they can better the experience. That is service that stands out to me and I appreciate.
We paid $75.00 for 4 tacos, chips, salsa, guacamole and 2 mediocre margaritas, The guacamole and salsa are very good. The tacos were cold and they didn’t warm up the meat. The margarita was too sweet. The staff working were not helpful or attentive. Low quality food and service at a high price. We even had to search for napkins after asking for them.
Delicious, authentic, and seasoned with a family recipe, the shrimp bowl leaves me fully satisfied. Slaw, large seasoned shrimp, rice, a heaping helping of thick guacamole and a sprinkling of other garnishing. This is a lunch I look forward to, when going to the office. The upstairs décor is very funky, with a wall of gold skulls and chairs with owner-made South American weaving for the backs.
When they first opened, I was a little put off by the price ($15 for a taco bowl), but it was so outstandingly delicious, and I wanted to support restaurants at this difficult time. The last two orders, however, were not up to standard. Half of the bowl was just white rice, and the other half a "double" order of the protein, which was overcooked and dry and not plentiful, mixed with a little bit of slaw. Hope things improve
Fun place. Food is comfort Mexican American, good for what it's trying to be. You can order and pay via your phone at your table and they bring it to you. Overall fun, casual place.
Oh one of those cute little Portland restaurants. This one was mexican tacos I order beef and pork tacos. Which were beyond delicious. Favor was right on point. A little disappointed that right around noon they didn't have soup available. Having a small menu you should have everything available especially something simple as soup during an start of the day. The place has true story setting proceeding and just nicely decorated. Wasn't very busy either.

A friend and I stopped in for lunch to celebrate her birthday after discovering the Grill Room was closed. We lucked out! The upstairs lounge area was adorable and we had it all to ourselves. The margs were delicious and while small they packed a punch. We both got a bowl - they were big and delicious! Service was fast ?. Also, to everyone that’s commenting on how “pricey” it is, have you seen the news on food and labor prices? If you want fresh well made food, you should probably get used to this new reality.
Great food, great music, great vibe. From the salsa to the soda, an all around good time‼️ 10/10 would recommend!
