A great menu and a great wait staff.

The staff is rude, and the women who answers the phone, should be fired…

Awesome experience learning about the different oysters

Dinner, drinks and service were phenomenal!!! Having Celiac's is not a problem, they have gluten free lobster rolls and were well versed in suggesting alternatives for their dishes!! Made things so easy!!! Would definitely recommend even if you're in Portland, ME for one night - go here! We also met Eventide's phenomenal photographer during a little golden hour shoot! A meta moment of a photographer capturing a photographer, capturing the delicious entrees.

Pre shucked, self shucked, get shucked. Fattest, juiciest oysters I've ever had. The mignonette is a must.

Eventide takes their food and business seriously. Everything we had was simply delicious! The oysters were so fresh and flavorful, we almost ordered a second dozen. We had a front row seat to all the shucking! It was awesome. The fried chicken sandwich was our favorite order of the evening. Highly recommend! They are usually slammed…year round, so truly plan on a 2+ hour wait. Go early, put your name in and get a drink or apps somewhere. There is no parking, so street parking is your best bet! The service is quick and accommodating. Enjoy!!

Atmosphere - 5/5Service - 5/5Value - 3/5Food - 4/5Excellent oysters and a diverse drink menu. Their lobster roll and oyster bun were fantastic and the bread was delightfully squishy/doughy, i only wish they were bigger! The tuna crudo was much, much too salty, and didn’t have that classic tuna crudo acidity. Otherwise, a beautiful spot and very helpful staff

We arrived at Eventide after 7 pm on a Tuesday evening. It was packed and there was a 30 to45 minute waitlist. We added our name to it and settled in to wait for a text message. The German family of four behind us commiserated with us as they were shown to a big table immediately. A few moments later the father asked if we wished to join them instead of waiting for our own table. We did! And a very enjoyable evening of lively conversation ensued. It didn't stop us from eating a dozen of the best oysters I've ever had; if Empress oysters are on the menu, order them. We also had a salad of "greens" to share and, for me, a bowl of clam chowder and for my DH, the lobster stew in a coconut and curry broth. Both soups were very flavorful with a good amount of seafood in them but I did not care for the salad's harsh tart dressing which fought with my glass of white wine. The DH ordered a dessert that was a sandwich of thin oatmeal cookies with vanilla buttercream filling. He said it was good but didn't eat all of it.

I've not been to Portland for three years as Covid kept me in the UK. So on my summer 2022 New England trip I factored in two nights in Portland and wanted to visit Eventide as it's simple menu and interesting beers offer good value served in a lively ambiance. Fresh oysters, fried oysters, lobster soup all went down well along with two local beers of which the IPA was the best. The place turns over clients quickly but it never feels rushed. The fact that I've been going to 10 years and that it has remained consistent should not be undervalued. This is rare in a restaurant in the 21st century. I will return.....

Husband and I were restaurant hopping in Portland and this was our first stop. We sat at the bar, got a couple of drinks, half a dozen of oysters, and the most delicious fried oyster roll. The pickled veggies on the oyster roll was fantastic and the bread was super soft and just perfect. Wish we had room for more food, but we had other places to explore. 11/10 highly recommend.
