very nice. Not required to wear face masks ?. Following COVID rules behind counter with plastic glass. Will take cash. Didn't ask about plastic cards. Most are sick ? of recommendations which are not Laws. Coffee is very good ? better than Duncan Donuts ?. Size is a little smaller but well worth it. There are other items in shop for sale. Check it out for yourself. My ice Coffee was a little under $4. There are pastry/other. Don't see any reason for children not coming inside. 3 or 4 tables to sit down and eat. Relaxing environment. Cashier had to speak up for me to hear. She spoke English with accent. English is second language. Good to keep in mind. She was very nice.Tips are appreciated.
We got some iced coffee to go and a bag of their own roasted whole bean coffee. Awesome people, and the best iced coffee I’ve had in years - the medium roast made such a nice cold drink, MUCH better than the usual over-roasted coffee chain version. Definitely worth trying!
Wow. Just amazing. I ordered the avocado toast & it was the most delicious avocado toast, I've ever had. The bread was so fluffy buy strong enough to hold a massive amount of avocado. My only constructive feedback is when I ordered online, I didn't asked for it to be topped with red pepper flakes, but it still was. I'm sensitive to heat but I still downed it as it was phenomenal.
Perfectly steamed latte and a delicious roast. Bought a bag of whole bean coffee and am enjoying it at home this morning. We also tried the savory banana soup-- a different flavor palette than we're used to, but glad we did. Very tasty. Will be back to try more dishes soon...
The BEST COFFEE IN PORTLAND! I had the Caramel Latte made with Oat Milk & also tried their Avocado toast! Seriously the best I’ve ever had. It was huge and tasted amazing! I loved it. I’ve found my new Coffee Shop!
Just walked in Burundi Star Coffee for the first time! I got a cold brew and some avocado toast and then decided to get the banana soup to try! Everything is SO good! The avocado toast is seriously on another level just one of the slices filled me up! Not only is everything delicious but the owners are so so kind :) i’ll be back.
Probably the best under the radar coffee shop in Portland. Coffee is fantastic and the food is fresh and delicious. The avacado toast is incredible and keeps me coming back.
We went here while in Maine looking for Avocado toast and we are so glad we did! The food is amazing!! We got the avocado toast which was huge and delicious! But the best part was the banana soup! We decided to be adventurous as we had never had it before and it was sooo good, and authentic! The soup was similar to Maryland crab soup but better!! The coffee was also maybe the best coffee we had in Maine! We also got a cinnamon roll and a cheese danish that were spectacular! Over all it was a 10/10 and we would definitely recommend it!! The service was wonderful so welcoming and kind!
So glad I found this place! I got a Burundi tea, beef sambousa, and mandazi (imagine a cake donut ball). Everything was SO delicious and the owners are so sweet. I bought another sambousa for the road.. I’ll definitely be back
This mom-and-pop shop is an American success story. The owners, who grew up working in the Burundi coffee fields, started in the United States with nothing but asylum. They built up their English and business acumen through adult education and a USM accounting degree before opening up this coffee shop. Their coffee is excellent (not too acidic, hints of five spice powder), but the real treasure is the slice of Burundian community that's being shared here: both the community in Portland and in Burundi.
